Article Synopsis
- Two sesquiterpene lactones, 1 ,10,3,4-diepoxyguai-5,6,7-11(13)-en-6,12-olide and hanphyllin, were isolated from the plant Kovalevsk and characterized using advanced techniques like HR-ESI-MS, IR, and NMR.
- The X-ray diffraction analysis provided precise spatial structures of both compounds.
- The chloroform fraction containing these compounds showed stronger cytotoxic effects on HeLa (89.7%) and HEp-2 (63.0%) cancer cells compared to individual compounds and cisplatin, while being less toxic to liver cells.
