The Zung self-rating depression scale and the Hamilton depression scale were used to evaluate the depression status in patients with asthma. Results of logistic regression analysis indicated that, severity of asthma symptoms, taking medicine, frequency of asthma onset, and lack of education were the major risk factors for depression in patients with asthma.
