Annual health expenditures by body mass index categories and the economic impact of obesity in Türkiye: A retrospective modeling study.

Introduction: Obesity is considered not only a public health issue on a global scale but also a disease adversely affecting the world economies. Economic impact of overweight and obesity has not yet been investigated in Türkiye at a national level. This study aimed to investigate the impact of obesity on the healthcare costs in Türkiye and to estimate the overall national economic burden of obesity.

Vitamin D Levels in Takayasu's Arteritis and a Review of the Literature on Vasculitides.

Objective: Takayasu's arteritis (TAK) is a chronic, large-vessel vasculitis. Vitamin D, as a steroidal hormone, has recently been shown to have immunoregulatory and immunosuppressive effects. Low vitamin D levels are demonstrated in various autoimmune disorders.

Effect of low- and high-dose levothyroxine on thyroid nodule volume: a crossover placebo-controlled trial.

Objective: The efficacy and the effective dose of levothyroxine suppressive therapy in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules are controversial. In this study, we aimed to determine the response of solitary thyroid nodules to low- or high-level TSH suppression in a placebo-controlled, randomized crossover trial.

Design: Forty-nine patients with solitary thyroid nodules on palpation were randomized to high-level and low-level TSH suppression groups.

Effects of aminoguanidine on lipid and protein oxidation in diabetic rat kidneys.

Nonenzymatic glycation of tissue and plasma proteins may stimulate the production of oxidant and carbonyl stress in diabetes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of aminoguanidine (AG) on lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation and nitric oxide (NO) release in diabetic rat kidneys.
