Ulcerative colitis (UC) results in inflammation and ulceration of the colon and the rectum's inner lining. The application of herbal therapy in UC is increasing worldwide. As natural macromolecular compounds, polysaccharides have a significant role in the treatment of UC due to advantages of better biodegradation, good biocompatibility, immunomodulatory activity, and low reactogenicity.

polysaccharides (GUPS) are widely applied in biomedicine and functional food due to their multiple pharmacological activities and low toxicity. Despite their widespread use, the metabolic profile of GUPS remains poorly understood. To address this gap, we developed a quantitative analysis method that involves labeling GUPS with visible fluorescein (5-DTAF) and near-infrared (NIR) fluorescein (Cy7), resulting in stable conjugates with substitution degrees of 0.

Danhong Injection (DHI) is one of the most popular Chinese medicine formulations to treat cardiovascular diseases. However, the effective components of DHI have not been well addressed. In the present study, a pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PK-PD) approach was employed to elucidate the effective compounds of DHI for the first time.

In this work, a bioassay-guided fractionation strategy was used to isolate 26 phenolic compounds from the ethyl acetate partition of an ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. ex DC. Among them, 8 prenylated phenolic compounds (glycyuralins Q-X) were described for the first time.

The development of collateral sensitivity agents that are able to modulate P-glycoprotein (P-gp) is the most promising approaches to overcome multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer. In this study, eight new diterpenoids of jatrophane and ingenane type, 1-8, and three known ones (9-11) were isolated from Euphorbia glomerulans. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations.

Shengmaisan (SMS) is a famous traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula to treat coronary heart diseases. It has been developed into several TCM patent drugs to meet the demands of different patients. In this study, a research strategy was proposed to reveal the chemical variations among four SMS-based patent drugs, including Shengmai Oral Solution (Shengmaiyin, SMY), Shengmai Capsule (Shengmai Jiaonang, SMJN), Yiqi Fumai Injection (YQFMI), and Yiqi Fumai Capsule (Yiqi Fumai Jiaonang, YQJN).

Meiguihua oral solution (MOS), a classical Chinese medicinal formula, was approved by the China Food and Drug Administration for production. However, the quality evaluation of MOS has not been reported. In this present study, qualitative and quantitative analysis of MOS were conducted by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole-orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-orbitrap-HRMS) and high performance liquid chromatography-tri-quadrupole linear ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-tri-Q-LIT-MS).

By merging a high-performance liquid chromatography diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) method with high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), an assay was developed for chemical fingerprinting and quantitative analysis of traditional medicine Majun Mupakhi ELA (MME), and constituent compounds were identified using HPLC coupled with UHPLC-DAD-Quadrupole-Orbitrap-MS method. In addition, the antioxidant capacity of MME was assessed based on the ability of components to scavenge radicals using in vitro method. Using a HPLC-DAD method with HPTLC easily validated the chemical fingerprinting results and quantified three characteristic components, namely, gallic acid (1), daidzein (2), and icariin (3), in commercial MMEs.
