The present study aimed to enhance the efficiency and efficacy of the Al/Cu joint production process implemented by the company VEMID Ltd., Jagodina, Serbia, by attaining sound joints within a very short welding time. For this purpose, the present study aimed at investigating the accuracy and the quality of the continuous drive friction welding (CDFW) process, as well as the optimum combination of CDFW parameters with highest joint efficiency in terms of investigated properties.

Two medium-carbon microalloyed steels with a predominant acicular ferrite microstructure were investigated in this study in order to determine the initial micro-crack formation mechanism and the role of acicular ferrite structure in cleavage fracture. In order to ensure cleavage fracture, samples were investigated at -196 °C for uniaxial tension and four point bending fracture. Previous investigations have shown that cleavage fracture for steels with a predominant acicular ferrite microstructure has not been initiated by the fracture of coarse TiN particles as in ferrite-pearlite, bainite, or martensitic microalloyed steels.

Background: Heterogeneity regarding dosimetry and reporting of endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) mandates the development of a standardized protocol. This study presents the mid-term results of EVLA with 1940 nm-laser and radial-fibre, supported by a four-zone dosimetry tool.

Materials And Methods: Four anatomical dosimetry zones for great saphenous veins (GSV) and two for small saphenous veins (SSV) were defined with set power levels.

Cleavage fracture of the V and Ti-V microalloyed forging steels was investigated by the four-point bending testing of the notched specimens of Griffith-Owen's type at -196 °C, in conjunction with the finite element analysis and the fractographic examination by scanning electron microscopy. To assess the mixed microstructure consisting mostly of the acicular ferrite, alongside proeutectoid ferrite grains and pearlite, the samples were held at 1250 °C for 30 min and subsequently cooled instill air. Cleavage fracture was initiated in the matrix under the high plastic strains near the notch root of the four-point bending specimens without the participation of the second phase particles in the process.

Objectives: To evaluate the safety, efficacy and ≥36 months outcomes of endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) by means of 1940 nm laser with radial fiber for the treatment of truncal vein insufficiency and compare the results to a historical cohort, obtained via reviewing the literature.

Methods: This prospective, non-randomized, single-center clinical study included 139 consecutive patients with 177 incompetent great saphenous (GSV, n = 135) and short saphenous veins (SSV, n = 42). The maximum laser power (Pmax.

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a delicate medical problem in young women. This condition is not unchangeable and permanent but is associated with intermittent and unpredictable ovarian activity, resulting in low conception rate. Over the period of 8 years, the evaluation of secondary amenorrhea was conducted in 90 patients below the age of 40 who wished to restore fertility.

Article Synopsis
  • - Lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals have specific healthcare needs, with breast cancer being the leading cancer among women globally; however, transgender individuals face significant barriers to screening for this disease, with a notably low incidence of breast cancer documented among them.
  • - Only 13 cases of breast cancer in female-to-male transsexuals have been reported in the literature, with findings showing those tumors tend to be estrogen and progesterone-positive invasive ductal carcinoma.
  • - There is a need for improved breast cancer screening programs tailored to transgender individuals, considering their unique anatomical and clinical aspects, as current guidelines are not fully addressing their healthcare requirements.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound in identifying the nature of palpable breast masses based on the BI-RADS classification system.
  • The research involved analyzing ultrasound results from 30 women and correlating BI-RADS categories with surgical biopsy findings.
  • The results showed that all BI-RADS 5 masses were malignant, while BI-RADS 4A masses were mostly benign, indicating that ultrasound BI-RADS can effectively categorize breast lesions and should be followed by biopsy for further investigation.

Introduction: Gestational trophoblastic neoplasm (GTN), choriocarcinoma in coexistence with primary cervical adenocarcinoma, is a rare event not easy to diagnose. Choriocarcinoma is a malignant form of GTN but curable if metastases do not appear early and spread fast.

Case Report: We presented choriocarcinoma in coexistence with primary cervical adenocarcinoma in a 48-year-old patient who had radical hysterectomy because of confirmed cervical carcinoma (Dg: Carcinomaporo vaginalis uteri FIGO st I B1).

As the Higgs boson could be a key to unlocking mysteries regarding our Universe, melatonin, a somewhat mysterious substance secreted by the pineal gland primarily at night, might be a crucial factor in regulating numerous processes in human reproduction. Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant which has an essential role in controlling several physiological reactions, as well as biological rhythms throughout human reproductive life. Melatonin, which is referred to as a hormone, but also as an autocoid, a chronobiotic, a hypnotic, an immunomodulator and a biological modifier, plays a crucial part in establishing homeostatic, neurohumoral balance and circadian rhythm in the body through synergic actions with other hormones and neuropeptides.

Purpose: A multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with malignant diseases requires adequate venous access in order to safely administer chemotherapy, blood transfusion and blood products, antibiotics, rehydratation and total parenteral nutrition. The insertion of the central venous catheter (CVC), its use and its maintenance can be accompanied by multiple complications.

Methods: Fifty cancer patients were retrospectively enrolled in this study.

Introduction: It is now believed that the majority of cervical cancer is preceded by long-term infection with high-risk types of the human papilloma virus (HPV). The presence of HPV high-risk types (HR-HPV) in the cells of intraepithelial change multiplies the possibility of its progressive development to high-grade cervical precancer and invasive disease.

Aim: This study examined the correlation of HPV infection with cytology, colposcopy, and histopathological examination of the bioptic tissue in low- and high-grade cervical lesions.

Background: Various types of reconstructions have been developed to improve the quality of life of patients following total gastrectomy. In addition, to ensure larger food-intake reservoirs and extend meal transit times, different types of pouch reconstructions have been developed and described. Our opinion is that the most important factor in providing better physiologic regulation of ingested food is restoration of the duodenal passage and enlargement of the gastric substituent.

Background: Many different benign and malignant diseases can cause obstruction of the extrahepatic biliary duct. One of the more serious complications of biliary obstruction is cholangitis leading to emergency decompression. Anatomic variations are frequent in this region; however, it has rarely been reported that the extrahepatic bile duct is compressed by the arterial vessels.

Background: Total gastrectomy causes numerous disorders, such as reflux esophagitis, dumping syndrome, malabsorption, and malnutrition. To minimize the consequences, different variants of reconstruction are performed. The aim of our study is the comparison of two reconstructive methods: the standard Roux-en-Y and a new modality of pouch interposition, preduodenal-pouch interposition.

Premature ovarian failure (POF), a serious life-changing condition that affects young women, remains an enigma and the researchers' challenge. The term POF generally describes a syndrome of gonadal failure before the age of 40, characterized by amenorrhea, sex steroid deficiency and elevated levels of gonadotropins. Infertility and psychological stress are common consequences of this entity the prevalence of which is 0.
