Background: DNA polymerase theta (POLQ) is a translesion synthesis polymerase essential for the repair of double strand breaks by the error-prone TMEJ (Theta Mediated End Joining) pathway. Although POLQ participates in maintaining genome stability, several studies have shown that its overexpression correlates with cancer progression and poor prognosis. Due to the fact that its role as a biomarker in pancreatic cancer remains unexplored, we aimed to study the usefulness of POLQ H-score as a prognostic factor in a pancreatic cancer patient cohort.

Methods: Multicenter retrospective study of patients undergoing surgery for RCC pancreatic metastases, from January 2010 to May 2020.
Introduction: Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor. Aryl hydrocarbon receptor interacting protein (AIP) in one of AHR ligands. The aim of this study is to analyze the prognostic influence of AIP in pancreatic carcinoma.

Preoperative embolization of hepatic artery (PHAE) has been postulated as a technical option to increase resection rate.
Objective: comparison of morbidity and mortality at 90 days, operative time, hospital stay and survival between patients that performed DP-CAR with and without PHAE.
Background: Pancreatectomy plus celiac axis resection (CAR) is performed in patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The morbidity rates are high, and no survival benefit has been confirmed. It is not known at present whether it is the type of pancreatectomy, or CAR itself, that is the reason for the high complication rates.

However, only 10-15% of the patients in this context will be candidate for curative resection arising other 10-13% after response to neoadyuvant chemotherapy. In order to perform the liver metastases surgery, it is necessary to have a sufficient remnant liver volume (RLV) which allows maintaining an optimal liver function after resection.

PIWIL1 and PIWIL2 have been recently evaluated in pancreatic cancer, and elevated expression of PIWIL2 conferred longer survival to patients. However, PIWIL3's and PIWIL4's role in carcinogenesis is rather controversial, and their clinical implication in pancreatic cancer has not yet been investigated.

Ten years later we sent a questionnaire to check the current situation. Methods: a questionnaire with 21 items sent to 38 centers, related to fasting time before and after surgery, nutritional screening use and type, time and type of peri-operative nutritional support, and number of procedures.

Recent studies have taken special interest in liver function parameters which can correlate with CALI to decrease this adverse event. Therefore, the current study investigates the usefulness of splenic volume as a biomarker of CALI through a portal hypertension mechanism, in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).

Background: Standardized histological examination of PD specimens has shown that most pancreatic resections thought to be R0 resections are R1. "Artery-first approach" is a surgical technique characterized by meticulous dissection of arterial planes and clearing of retropancreatic tissue in an attempt to achieve a higher rate of R0.
Pancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive manifestation of cancer, and currently presents poor clinical outcome due to its late diagnosis with metastasic disease. Surgery is the only approach with a curative intend; however, the survival rates seen in this type of patient are still low. After surgery, there is a lack of predictive prognosis biomarkers to predict treatment response and survival to establish a personalized medicine.

The primary aim of this study was to describe the safety and feasibility of cholecystectomy, including in the acute setting, in a cohort of patients≥80 years of age.

Materials And Methods: Longitudinal retrospective case series of pancreatic adenocarcinoma operated with a curative intent in a large tertiary hospital in Madrid between 2009 and 2015.
Results: 162 were enrolled.
Introduction: Ampullary adenocarcinoma seems less aggressive than other pancreato-biliary neoplasms. The aim of this study is to define determining prognostic factors.
Material And Methods: Retrospective case series from a large tertiary Hospital including all patients diagnosed with ampullary adenocarcinoma who underwent cephalic pancreatoduodenectomy with curative intent.
The hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most frequent tumor in the world, and the third cause of death related to cancer. Histological samples obtained from diseased liver likely to have HCC are currently prescribed in selected patients in whose imaging studies and tumor markers are not sufficient for the diagnosis. In recent years, a risk of tumoral seeding along needle tract of FNAC to obtain histological samples has been reported.

Materials: We conducted a multicenter study of laparoscopic radical surgery for hydatidosis of the liver (LRSH). The main objectives of the study were to determine the feasibility of LRSH, to examine the associated morbidity, and to evaluate the associated recurrence rate.
Introduction: Hepatic adenomas (HA) are benign tumours which can present serious complications, and as such, in the past all were resected. It has now been shown that those smaller than 3 cm not expressing β-catenin only result in complications in exceptional cases and therefore the therapeutic strategy has been changed.
Material And Method: Retrospective study in 14 HPB units.
Aim: To analyze the effectiveness of a 0,2% polyhexamethylene biguanide dressing against the infection of a superficial surgical incision site (ISSIS) after a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Method: A randomized longitudinal single-blind study was conducted with two randomly assigned groups consisting of patients diagnosed with cholelithiasis soon to undergo an elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The dependent variable was ISSIS using the criteria of the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) (1999).
Introduction: Changes in bone metabolism and bone mineral density are observed in renal transplant patients with tertiary hyperparathyroidism. The objective of this work was to analyse the increase in bone mineral density, as well the laboratory results, after total parathyroidectomy and autotransplantation in renal transplant patients with tertiary hyperparathyroidism.
Material And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in which the bone mineral density values at femoral and lumbar level were analysed, together with the serum levels of calcium, phosphorous, parathyroid hormone (PTH), and alkaline phosphatase in 13 renal transplant patients with tertiary hyperparathyroidism before and after total parathyroidectomy and autotransplantation of the parathyroid glands.
