High-affinity binding sites for the D1 dopamine receptor antagonist [3H]SCH 23390 were identified in membranes from human putamen, frontal cortex and calf retina. In frontal cortex binding not only occurred to D1 but also to 5-HT2 receptors. In retina and putamen no binding to 5-HT2 receptors was detected.

Objective quantification of the symptoms of Meige's syndrome is difficult and has not been performed in the majority of pharmacological studies of Meige's syndrome published so far. The aim of the present study was to reexamine the therapeutic potential of biperiden, clonazepam, haloperidol, and lisuride using an objective method of quantification of the symptoms. Eleven patients received daily i.

Two patients presenting a relapsing form of sporadic brachial plexus neuropathy, the so-called Parsonage Turner syndrome, are reported. The diagnosis is based on clinical and electromyographic features. Recurrent attacks, although infrequently encountered, have been well described in the past.

We present 14 additional cases of PSS with neurological manifestations. Primary involvement of the peripheral nerves could be detected in 4 of 14 patients and is documented by electromyo- and electroneurographical examinations.

Treatment of migraine with ergot alkaloids may produce systemic vasospasm in patients, especially as a result of automedication and overconsumption but also due to individual hypersensitivity. Peripheral vasoconstriction may lead to gangrene of the extremities, necessitating amputation. Various treatments have been tried against ischemic complications during ergotism with varied and unpredictable results.

The histories of two patients with spinal epidural abscess are reported. Attention is drawn to the route of infection by means of direct inoculation of pathogens in the wake of paravertebral infiltration of local anaesthetics for relieving lower backpain, furthermore we emphasize the rare occurrence of a relapsing acute spinal epidural abscess. Additionally the diagnostic superiority of nuclear magnetic resonance tomography is described in a patient known to be allergic to commonly used contrast material.

The experimental results are compared with theoretical calculations obtained from an updated version of the Bragg code. This code describes in detail the interaction of charged particles with matter.

A patient is described who developed unilateral seizures whilst being treated with recombinant interferon for hairy cell leukemia. Special features included the relatively low dose of interferon, the focal aspect of the epilepsy and the high resistance to anticonvulsants. Oligoclonal banding of cerebrospinal fluid proteins may have resulted from polyclonal activation of bone marrow plasma cells during interferon treatment.
