This study is aimed to investigate the types of knot failure (untying or breaking) and the tension required to break different suture diameters. A total of 150 knots were fabricated using polyamide sutures with diameters of 6/0, 7/0, and 8/0. The studied knots were either squared or slipped with different numbers of throws (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), and the following data were recorded: type of failure (untied or broken), number of throws, the tension required to untie or break each knot, slippage, and elongation of the knot.

Biologically driven flap design is dictated by optimal soft and hard tissue handling, flap perfusion, and wound stability, all in the pursuit of primary intention healing. The unique architecture of the infrabony defect is a determining factor on incision tracing, boundaries of flap extension, and biomaterial selection.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence, size, location, and morphology of maxillary sinus septa in dentate, partially dentate, and edentulous maxillae.
Materials And Methods: Data from 312 sinuses were analyzed from reformatted computerized tomograms utilizing SIM/Plant software. The sample consisted of 156 patients (106 women and 50 men, with ages ranging between 24 and 86 years and a mean age of 55.

The authors report on the fracture of a standard endosseous dental implant 11 years after placement. It had been connected to a natural tooth using a nonrigid connector to compensate for the lack of a built-in antirotational system on the prosthetic abutment of the implant restoration. Scanning electron microscopy revealed striations on the fracture surface, suggesting a fatigue-associated failure.
