This integrative review aimed to characterize the knowledge production of the Brazilian Stricto Sensu postgraduate programs, developed in the light of Martin Buber's philosophy. Data were collected from CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) Data Bank and the sample consisted of 66 productions. Most of the studies were developed in Education and Psychology Programs, and carried out between 2003 and 2007.

This is an experience report, aiming at describing the application of the Concept Map as a strategy to develop critical thinking skills in the identification of priority nursing diagnoses in a clinical situation. An elaborated fictitious clinical case and the concept map, created by using the IHMC CmapTools computer program, are presented. It was concluded that the use of Concept Map to identify the nursing diagnoses led to the development of critical thinking skills; therefore, its use should be stimulated during the academic program.

This phenomenological study aimed at understanding, in the light of Martin Buber's philosophy, what is to be a caregiver of children with AIDS. The phenomenological interview guided the meeting with seven caregivers of children with AIDS, selected in a teaching hospital of Porto Alegre-RS, southern of Brazil. The data were interpreted in the light of hermeneutics, emerging the unit of meaning Dialogues 'between' the familiar I and the Eternal THOU.

The objective of this study is to reflect upon the vulnerabilities experienced by the families dealing with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/Aids), and is based on the pertinent literature. To do this, we attempted to propose consideration related to the plurality of families in contemporaneity, and present the understandings and development regarding the vulnerability framework to the Aids epidemics. Finally, the study presents a description of the reflections made about the vulnerabilities to HIV and/or falling ill with Aids to which the families are exposed to in their personal, social and pragmatic levels.

This study was performed at a teaching hospital in Porto Alegre, with seven family members of children with AIDS. This study aimed at characterizing the teaching strategies applied to nursing in order to develop critical thinking skills. An integrative review was elaborated on the Web of Science and Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) data base, with the descriptors critical thinking, nursing and teaching from 1987 to 2008. The sample comprised 64 articles and the analysis provided the identification of 27 strategies for teaching critical thinking in nursing.

This qualitative study with a phenomenological approach aimed at understanding what it means to be a family caregiver of a child living with the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in the light of Martin Buber's philosophy. The study was carried out at the Pediatric outpatient Unit of a teaching hospital of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil with the participation of 7 family caregivers. Data was collected between September and October, 2006 using phenomenological interviews, and interpreted using Ricouer's hermeneutics.
