Since the introduction of platinum-based chemotherapy in the 1970s, most patients can be cured despite the aggressiveness of germ cell tumors. Optimal serum tumor markers are required for diagnostics, therapy monitoring and aftercare, and these are subject to high requirements.

Testicular germ cell tumours (GCTs) represent a paradigm for the usefulness of serum tumour markers in clinical management of diseases. However, the tumour markers currently in use, beta human chorionic gonadotropin (bHCG), alpha fetoprotein (AFP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) are expressed in less than 50% of GCT cases. In 2011, microRNA-371a-3p (currently named M371) was suggested as a novel marker for the first time.

We report the creation of ultracold ground state ^{6}Li^{40}K polar molecules with high efficiency. Starting from weakly bound molecules, stimulated Raman adiabatic passage is adopted to coherently transfer the molecules to their singlet rovibrational ground state |X^{1}Σ^{+},v=0,J=0⟩. By employing a singlet stimulated Raman adiabatic passage pathway and low-phase-noise narrow-linewidth lasers, we observed a one-way transfer efficiency of 96(4)%.

Background: Sex cord gonadal stromal tumors compose less than 10% of all testicular neoplasms and consist of a variety of histological subtypes. In 2016, the World Health Organization introduced a novel subtype, the myoid gonadal stromal tumor, that consists of spindle-shaped cells with immunohistologic features of muscle cells. Only few cases have been reported to date.

Field-programmable-gate-array-based digital frequency stabilization of low-phase-noise diode lasers.

We present the comparison of a field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) based digital servo module with an analog counterpart for the purpose of laser frequency stabilization to a high-finesse optical cavity. The transfer functions of both the digital and analog modules for proportional-integral-derivative control are measured. For the lasers stabilized to the cavity, we measure the singe-sideband power spectral density of fast phase noise by means of an optical beat with filtered light transmitted through the cavity.

Subsets of preoperative sex hormones in testicular germ cell cancer: a retrospective multicenter study.
