Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death globally, with its incidence and mortality rates continuing to rise. While commonly used biomarkers such as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and blood glucose are widely applied, they have certain limitations. This study investigates the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), a simple immune biomarker associated with inflammation, to assess whether it can serve as a new marker for predicting chronic inflammation in cardiovascular disease, and compares it to traditional biomarkers.

The development of innovative fluorescent polymeric materials to monitor acid-base equilibria is highly desirable. Herein, a novel catalyst-free click polymerization of aldehyde-activated internal diynes and dithiols was established, and exclusively Markovnikov poly(formyl sulfide)s (PFSs) with high molecular weights and moderate stereoregularity were produced in high yields.

We aimed to compare different treatment methods and to identify the risk factors for non-response and relapse after treatment.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 201 IgG4-RD patients initially diagnosed and treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from January 2016 to December 2020.
Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNEN) are tumors that originate from neuroendocrine cells. Only about 1% patients are related to mutation of tuberous sclerosis complex gene. Here, we reported a rare case with involvement of multiple organs and space-occupying lesions.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection are important causes of HCC. Liver cirrhosis, age, sex, smoking and drinking, and metabolic risk factors will increase the risk of cancer in HBV/HCV patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFinfection is still a major public health problem. It is estimated that more than 15 million people worldwide are infected, especially in Northeast China, Taiwan, South Korea, and North Vietnam. The detection of eggs in feces and bile is still the only gold standard for the diagnosis of infection, and new detection methods are needed to improve the detection rate.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFClick polymerization, a powerful synthetic technique to construct polymers with unique structures and advanced functions, is of crucial importance in the areas of polymer and material sciences. A variety of click polymerizations such as azide-alkyne, thiol-yne, amino-yne, and hydroxyl-yne reactions have been established, wherein the catalytic systems play an indispensable role in realizing these highly practical reactions based on triple-bond building blocks, as they directly influence the efficiencies of the click polymerizations and the performances of the resultant polymers. The vital employment of catalysts is reviewed and their developments from innovative discoveries to the eminent position are outlined.
