Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and kidney transplant (KTx) recipients presents challenges in stroke risk management. This study aimed to compare hospitalization rates for ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events in ESKD and KTx patients with and without AF.

Methods: Using the National Inpatient Sample (2005-2019), retrospective analysis was conducted on hospitalizations for ESKD and KTx patients with and without AF.

In Lausanne, Switzerland, Interprofessional Education (IPE) is embedded in the curriculum of every undergraduate healthcare student. Since 2011, five educational and healthcare institutions have implemented a short interprofessional education course to bring together 2307 undergraduates from six different disciplines (medicine, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, medical radiology technician) between 2017 and 2020. Adult-born granule cells, while immature, contribute to the experience-dependent plasticity of the olfactory circuit by enabling structural and functional synaptic changes.

Evaluating the impact of a blended interprofessional education course on students' attitudes towards interprofessional education: a pre-post study.

Background: Since 2011, five educational and healthcare institutions have implemented a short interprofessional education (IPE) course to bring together undergraduates from five disciplines. To meet the logistical challenges of IPE implementation, more specifically, the large number of classrooms needed to gather students together and the need for human resources to guide learning activities, a face-to-face IPE course was redesigned into a blended (online and face-to-face collaborative learning activities) IPE course. In March 2023, 183 medical, 378 nursing, 46 radiologic technology, 69 physiotherapy, and 74 occupational therapy students participated in a one-day IPE blended course to learn interprofessional team functioning and dynamics, role clarification and responsibilities of other professions, and interprofessional communication skills.

Hedonic perception deeply changes with aging, significantly impacting health and quality of life in elderly. In young adult mice, an odor hedonic signature is represented along the antero-posterior axis of olfactory bulb, and transferred to the olfactory tubercle and ventral tegmental area, promoting approach behavior. Here, we show that while the perception of unattractive odorants was unchanged in older mice (22 months), the appreciation of some but not all attractive odorants declined.

Prospective fecal microbiomic biomarkers for chronic wasting disease.

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a naturally occurring prion disease in cervids that has been rapidly proliferating in the United States. Here, we investigated a potential link between CWD infection and gut microbiome by analyzing 50 fecal samples obtained from CWD-positive animals of different sexes from various regions in the USA compared to 50 CWD-negative controls using high throughput sequencing of the 16S ribosomal RNA and targeted metabolomics. Our analysis reveals promising trends in the gut microbiota that could potentially be CWD-dependent, including several bacterial taxa at each rank level, as well as taxa pairs, that can differentiate between CWD-negative and CWD-positive deer.

Introduction: Despite evidence of the benefits of the written asthma action plans (WAP) in asthma control, they remain poorly applied. The aim of our study was to assess the practices of French-speaking pulmonologists and paediatricians in their use of WAP for asthma control and to analyse the contents of several WAPs routinely consulted in treatment of asthma patients.

Methods: Members of three French medical societies (SPLF, G2A, SP2A) were requested to share their WAPs for asthma patients and to participate in an online survey about the possible influence of these documents on their practices.

Evaluation of a ^{88}Sr^{+} Optical Clock with a Direct Measurement of the Blackbody Radiation Shift and Determination of the Clock Frequency.

We report on an evaluation of an optical clock that uses the ^{2}S_{1/2}→^{2}D_{5/2} transition of a single ^{88}Sr^{+} ion as the reference. In contrast to previous work, we estimate the effective temperature of the blackbody radiation that shifts the reference transition directly during operation from the corresponding frequency shift and the well-characterized sensitivity to thermal radiation. We measure the clock output frequency against an independent ^{171}Yb^{+} ion clock, based on the ^{2}S_{1/2}(F=0)→^{2}F_{7/2}(F=3) electric octupole (E3) transition, and determine the frequency ratio with a total fractional uncertainty of 2.
