The Use of Sustained Release Intravitreal Steroid Implants in Non-Infectious Uveitis Affecting the Posterior Segment of the Eye.

The treatment of non-infectious uveitis affecting the posterior segment of the eye has been revolutionized by the development of sustained-release corticosteroid implants over the past decade. Their use is now supported by healthcare systems that have licensed and commissioned them on the basis of the high-quality randomised controlled trials that formed part of their development and which have informed clinicians as to their benefits and risks. In particular, they have provided an alternative mode of treatment for patients who do not wish to be systemically immunosuppressed, or in whom such immunosuppression is less desirable, such as those with unilateral disease or those with concurrent illnesses such as diabetes mellitus, renal disease or osteoporosis that are negatively impacted by systemic corticosteroids or other immunosuppressive agents.

Frontal sinus infection leading to sino-orbital aspergillosis: a case report.

Sino-orbital aspergillosis is an uncommon but aggressive infection. It rarely originates from the frontal sinus due to the complex anatomy of the frontal recess and anteromedial position of its ostium. An 87-year-old man of Nigerian heritage with a history of multiple myeloma, chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes, presented to the eye clinic with a right tense swollen eyelid and proptosis.

Role of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery in the management of chronic open-angle glaucoma.

To compare the safety and efficacy of phacoemulsification combined with ab-interno trabeculectomy (Trabectome) and phacoemulsification combined with I-Stent inject in patients with medically uncontrolled primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). A retrospective comparative case series. 70 eyes of 66 patients completed 2 years follow up after these treatments performed in 2017-2018.

Instrument-based Tests for Measuring Anterior Chamber Cells in Uveitis: A Systematic Review.

Purpose: New instrument-based techniques for anterior chamber (AC) cell counting can offer automation and objectivity above clinician assessment. This review aims to identify such instruments and its correlation with clinician estimates.

Methods: Using standard systematic review methodology, we identified and tabulated the outcomes of studies reporting reliability and correlation between instrument-based measurements and clinician AC cell grading.
