The role of radiotherapy in intracranial hemangiopericytoma/solitary fibrous tumors : A Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology Central Nervous System Tumors Group Study (TROD 07-008).

Objective: Intracranial hemangiopericytomas (HPC) are rare tumors. Radiotherapy (RT) is frequently performed after surgery, depending on tumor size, location, and the type of resection. Moreover, RT is preferred as an effective treatment for local recurrence and metastasis.

The effect of hand massage on fatigue in women with cancer receiving brachytherapy: randomized clinical trial.

Purpose: This randomized controlled study was conducted to analyze the effect of hand massage on the fatigue level of the women receiving brachytherapy.

Methods: It was determined that 12 patients were included in each group (control and hand massage group), so 24 women with gynecologic cancer were included in the study. The application was performed on each hand for 5 min, a total of 10 min in hand massage group.

Evaluation of early cardiotoxicity in HER2-positive breast cancer patients receiving radiotherapy and concurrent trastuzumab.

Background: Overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) is associated with aggressive disease in breast cancer. Trastuzumab and radiotherapy are standard treatments for patients with HER-2 + breast cancer, but they may increase the risk of cardiotoxicity.

Aim: This study aimed to assess early cardiotoxicity in patients receiving radiotherapy (RT) and concurrent trastuzumab.

Survival and Prognostic Factors in Re-irradiation for Recurrent/Progressive Malignant Gliomas: Turkish Society of Radiation Oncology Neuro-Oncology Group, TROD 007-006 Study.

Aim: To evaluate survival and prognostic factors associated with survival among patients who underwent reirradiation for recurrent/ progressive primary brain tumors.

Material And Methods: A multicenter, retrospective study (7 centers, N=236) was conducted by the Neuro-oncology Group of the Turkish Radiation Oncology Association.

Results: Median overall survival (OS) was 11 months and 1- and 2-year survival rates were 48% and 22%, respectively.

The relationship between quality of life and sex role of women with gynecological cancers undergoing brachytherapy.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between the quality of life and sex roles of women diagnosed with cancer and undergoing brachytherapy.

Methods: The research is a cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample of the study included 116 women over 35 years old who were diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer and underwent intracavitary brachytherapy at the Radiation Oncology Department of a university hospital.

The effect of the hand massage using baby oil with lavender application on the procedural pain and state anxiety of women undergoing brachytherapy: A parallel-group randomized controlled study.

Objective: This parallel-group randomized controlled study evaluated the effect of the hand massage practiced using baby oil with lavender on reducing pain and situational anxiety in women with brachytherapy.

Methods: The study was completed with 36 patients. The treatment group included 18 patients, and the control group had 18.

Prediction of nonsentinel lymph node metastasis in breast cancer patients with one or two positive sentinel lymph nodes.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between non sentinel lymph node metastasis (NSLNM) and clinicopathological factors, particularly in the case of sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis in one or two, in clinically node negative patients with breast cancer.

Methods: Between 10/2010 and 10/2014, 350 sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) were performed in patients with histologically proven primary breast cancer in our clinic. The data collection includes the following characteristics: age, pathological tumor size, histological type, histological grade, lymphovascular invasion (LVI), number of positive SLN, size of the SLN metastasis (macrometastasis, micrometastasis, isolated tumor cells), multifocality (MF), extracapsuler invasion (ECI) of the SLN, the estrogen receptor (ER) status, the progesterone receptor (PR) status and the Her 2 receptor status, Ki 67 reseptor status.

Prognostic Significance of Two Dimensional AgNOR Evaluation in Local Advanced Rectal Cancer Treated with Chemoradiotherapy.

The prognostic significance of AgNOR proteins in stage II-III rectal cancers treated with chemoradiotherapy was evaluated. Silver staining was applied to the 3μm sections of parafin blocked tissues from 30 rectal cancer patients who received 5-FU based chemoradiotherapy from May 2003 to June 2006. The microscopic displays of the cells were transferred into the computer via a video camera.

Contribution of involved-field radiotherapy to survival in patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation.

Objectives: To assess the outcomes of overall survival and posttransplantation survival in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) because of the development of relapse or resistance after chemotherapy (CT) or CT plus radiotherapy (combined modality treatment, CMT).

Methods: Forty-five patients undergoing ASCT because of the development of relapse or resistance after CT or CMT for HL were enrolled in the study. Radiotherapy was given as involved-field radiotherapy.
