ZnO nanoparticles functionalized with APTES were obtained to evaluate their CH and CO adsorption at 298 K in a range between 0 and 10 bar. First, ZnO nanoparticles were obtained by a precipitation method and subsequently coated with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). As a preliminary study, the results were compared with previously reported naked nanoparticles in order to evaluate the influence of APTES coating on CO selectivity.

The development of photoelectrochemical tandem cells for water splitting with electrodes entirely based on metal oxides is hindered by the scarcity of stable p-type oxides and the poor stability of oxides in strongly alkaline and, particularly, strongly acidic electrolytes. As a novelty in the context of transition metal oxide photoelectrochemistry, a bias-free tandem cell driven by simulated sunlight and based on a CuCrO photocathode and a WO photoanode, both unprotected and free of co-catalysts, is demonstrated to split water while working with strongly acidic electrolytes. Importantly, the Faradaic efficiency for H evolution for the CuCrO electrode is found to be about 90%, among the highest for oxide photoelectrodes in the absence of co-catalysts.

Introduction: Emotional disorders (ED) (mood and anxiety disorders) are very prevalent and disabling, and often appear in comorbid presentations. Although there are effective treatments for these disorders, there is still a large gap between the number of people who need them and those who actually receive them. The combination of three strategies may help in this regard, facilitating the dissemination and accessibility of treatment: the transdiagnostic perspective of ED, the group format, and the use of technologies in a blended format (i.

Data published in 2020 by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization show that breast cancer (BC) has become the most common cancer globally, affecting more than 2 million women each year. The complex tumor microenvironment, drug resistance, metastasis, and poor prognosis constitute the primary challenges in the current diagnosis and treatment of BC. Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONPs) have emerged as a promising nanoplatform for diagnostic tumor imaging as well as therapeutic drug-targeted delivery due to their unique physicochemical properties.

Polyamine (PA) spermidine (SPD) plays a crucial role in aging. Since SPD accumulates in glial cells, particularly in Müller retinal cells (MCs), the expression of the SPD-synthesizing enzyme spermidine synthase (SpdS) in Müller glia and age-dependent SpdS activity are not known. We used immunocytochemistry, Western blot (WB), and image analysis on rat retinae at postnatal days 3, 21, and 120.

Introduction: Adjustment disorder (AjD) is a maladaptive response to one or more psychosocial stressors. In many cases, the symptomatology of this disorder disappears once the stressor or its consequences are no longer present. However, in some cases, if left untreated, the symptoms may worsen and develop into a more severe mental disorder.

Background: The personality dimension neuroticism and difficulties in emotional regulation (ER) are two variables closely related to the onset, course, and maintenance of emotional disorders (EDs). The Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP) is a treatment specifically designed to address neuroticism by training in adaptive ER skills and has been shown to be effective in reducing difficulties in ER. However, the specific impact of these variables on treatment outcomes is not entirely clear.

Hemangiomas are one of the most common soft tissue tumors, most of which are located in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. However, a primary thyroid hemangioma is extremely infrequent, so there are only a few cases described in the current literature. As the clinical presentation and characteristics in the imaging tests are non-specific, it is difficult to obtain a preoperative diagnosis.

Ocean contamination mostly comes from anthropogenic contamination in watercourses. However, what happens in desert areas where watercourses are few or nonexistent? Are these coastal areas exempt from contamination? Do the remote locations of desert areas enable pristine coastal areas? Atacama is widely known for its desert aridity and mining resources; however, human impacts in its coastal areas have not been widely studied. Coastal zone uses of this region of Chile were analyzed per province in relation to the population settlements and economic activities on the coastal edge.
