Background: Computer-assisted fluoroscopic navigation and robotic technologies aim to optimize implant placement and alignment in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) to improve patient outcomes. This study uses a retrospective hospital billing database covering 1,300 hospitals to compare the clinical and economic effect of these technologies.

Methods: The study compared patients undergoing THA with robotic versus computer-assisted fluoroscopic navigation technologies between January 1, 2016, and September 30, 2021, using the Premier Healthcare Database.

Beyond the surgeon's feedback on bone behavior in the operating room, there is a paucity of data present in the literature on the mechanical properties of pediatric calvarial bone. The present study tested the calvarial bone of four species (Adult Humans, Dog, Pig, and Monkey) to find the mechanical properties. Three types of tests were performed; flexural, compression, and torsion to mimic how bone is handled during the surgery and the results were further compared with the existing published data for human pediatric calvarium.

Background: Critical care of patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) with acute brain injury (ABI) is notable for a lack of high-quality clinical evidence. Here, we offer guidelines for neurological care (neurological monitoring and management) of adults during and after ECMO support.

Methods: These guidelines are based on clinical practice consensus recommendations and scientific statements.

Cancer Immunotherapy Using AIRE Conditioning of the Tumor Epitopeome.

T cell immune tolerance is established in part through the activity of the Auto-immune Regulator (AIRE) transcription factor in the medullary Thymic Epithelial Cells (mTEC) of the thymus. AIRE induces expression of SELF peripheral tissue-specific antigens for presentation to naïve T cells to promote activation/deletion of potentially autoreactive T cells. We show, for the first time to our knowledge, that tumors mimic the role of AIRE in mTEC to evade immune rejection.

Methods: In this phase 3, double-blind, randomized, active-controlled trial, we randomly assigned participants in a 2:1 ratio to receive subcutaneous lenacapavir every 26 weeks or daily oral emtricitabine-tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF).

Introduction: Molecular hydrogen is produced by the fermentation of organic matter and consumed by organisms including hydrogenotrophic methanogens and sulfate reducers in anoxic marine sediment. The thermodynamic feasibility of these metabolisms depends strongly on organic matter reactivity and hydrogen concentrations; low organic matter reactivity and high hydrogen concentrations can inhibit fermentation so when organic matter is poor, fermenters might form syntrophies with methanogens and/or sulfate reducers who alleviate thermodynamic stress by keeping hydrogen concentrations low and tightly controlled. We compared the linearity, repeatability, and concordance of six commercially available HIV RNA VL platforms using clinical samples from patients from Brazilian sites where different HIV-1 subtypes co-circulate. A total of 150 plasma samples from each city were collected in Curitiba, Southern Brazil (subtype C), São Paulo (subtype B), and Santos (BF recombinants), Southeast Brazil.

Calibrating tumor growth and invasion parameters with spectral spatial analysis of cancer biopsy tissues.

The reaction-diffusion equation is widely used in mathematical models of cancer. The calibration of model parameters based on limited clinical data is critical to using reaction-diffusion equation simulations for reliable predictions on a per-patient basis.
