Mapping co-ancestry connections between the genome of a Medieval individual and modern Europeans.

Historical genetic links among similar populations can be difficult to establish. Identity by descent (IBD) analyses find genomic blocks that represent direct genealogical relationships among individuals. However, this method has rarely been applied to ancient genomes because IBD stretches are progressively fragmented by recombination and thus not recognizable after few tens of generations.

The genomic history of the Iberian Peninsula over the past 8000 years.

We assembled genome-wide data from 271 ancient Iberians, of whom 176 are from the largely unsampled period after 2000 BCE, thereby providing a high-resolution time transect of the Iberian Peninsula. We document high genetic substructure between northwestern and southeastern hunter-gatherers before the spread of farming. We reveal sporadic contacts between Iberia and North Africa by ~2500 BCE and, by ~2000 BCE, the replacement of 40% of Iberia's ancestry and nearly 100% of its Y-chromosomes by people with Steppe ancestry.

Protocol for mandibular reconstruction with zygomatic implants (zygomatic mandibular implant).

Introduction: This study describes a modified protocol using transmandibular zygomatic implants with immediate occlusal loading for the comprehensive dental rehabilitation of previously reconstructed mandibular defects and reports preliminary results of this modified protocol.

Materials And Methods: Fifteen patients (6 female and 9 male), with a mean of age 40.26 years (range 12 to 68 years), had previously undergone immediate mandibular reconstruction using either autologous bone grafting, bone transport, or microvascular free-flap reconstruction for a variety of diagnoses.

[Aplication of demineralized human bone matrix in the surgical dental fusion treatment. Report of a case].

The purpose of this work is to present a surgical alternative in the treatment of the dental fusions through the placement of demineralized human bone matrix (DHBM) (Grafton Putty)*, immediately after the separation and extraction of the fused tooth to the permanent one. The dental fusion is a dental anomaly of union, that consists in the union of two dental germs during development. It could happen at any of the dental germ evolution stages from the dental sheet or from more advanced processes of differentiation.
