In the present study, we found that new four benzo[]indole-4,9-dione derivatives reduce TNBC cell viability by reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation stress in vitro.

Nursing coaching leadership and its influence on job satisfaction and patient safety.

Objective: To compare the nursing technicians' perception with the nurses' self-perception of the exercise of nurses' coaching leadership and to check the influence of this leadership model on the safety climate and on the team's satisfaction.

Method: This is a correlational study, carried out with 85 nurses and 85 nursing technicians, using the Questionnaire on the Nurse's Self-Perception of Leadership Exercise, the Questionnaire on Nursing Technicians' and Assistants' Perception of Leadership Exercise, and the subscales Safety climate and Satisfaction at Work. The relations among the professionals' responses were assessed using the Mann Whitney test and Spearman's coefficient.

Effects of diaphragmatic control on multiparametric analysis of the sniff nasal inspiratory pressure test and inspiratory muscle activity in healthy subjects.

Background: We investigated the influence of diaphragmatic activation control (diaphC) on the relaxation rate, contractile properties and electrical activity of the inspiratory muscles of healthy subjects. Assessments were performed non-invasively using the sniff inspiratory pressure test (SNIP) and surface electromyography, respectively.

Methods: Twenty-two subjects (10 men and 12 women) performed 10 sniff maneuvers in two different days: with and without diaphC instructions.

Methods: Data were collected through a population-based cross-sectional study held in two of the nine health districts in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, from 2008 to 2009. The study included 3,934 individuals of both genders, aged 18 years and older.

Storm Waves May Be the Source of Some "Tsunami" Coastal Boulder Deposits.

Coastal boulder deposits (CBD) provide what are sometimes the only remaining signatures of wave inundation on rocky coastlines; in recent decades, CBD combined with initiation of motion (IoM) analyses have repeatedly been used as primary evidence to infer the existence of ancient tsunamis. However, IoM storm wave heights inferred by these studies have been shown to be highly inaccurate, bringing some inferences into question. This work develops a dimensionless framework to relate CBD properties with storm-wave hindcasts and measurements, producing data-driven relations between wave climate and boulder properties.

The Racial Gap in Employment and Layoffs during COVID-19 in the United States: A Visualization.

A large body of sociological research has shown that racial minorities and women experience significant disadvantages in the labor market. In this visualization, the author presents evidence from the Current Population Survey examining the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 crisis on racial and gender inequalities in employment in the United States among prime-age workers. The author shows that the white-nonwhite gap in employment increased significantly during the post-outbreak period.

Probiotic potential of Enterococcus hirae in goat milk and its survival in canine gastrointestinal conditions simulated in vitro.

In canine nutrition, the use of goat nutraceutical dairy products is an innovative proposal. Therefore, the objective of this study was to prepare fermented goat milk with probiotic potential in dogs in an in vitro model. A total of 40 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) species were grown, of which 30 were CAP isolates originally from goat milk and 10 were CAN isolates originally from fecal material of newborn dogs.

Analytical results are often used in scientific research, industrial and clinical applications to support decision making. Despite all efforts to ensure the reliability of analytical results (including method validation, internal quality control, use of certified reference materials, proficiency tests, and ISO 17025 accreditation), there will always be an uncertainty associated with the measured value. The measurement uncertainty expresses the quality of the analytical result and allows the comparability between analytical results or between the measured value and the specification limit(s).

Endovascular Therapy for Stroke Due to Basilar-Artery Occlusion.

Background: The effectiveness of endovascular therapy in patients with stroke caused by basilar-artery occlusion has not been well studied.

Methods: We randomly assigned patients within 6 hours after the estimated time of onset of a stroke due to basilar-artery occlusion, in a 1:1 ratio, to receive endovascular therapy or standard medical care.
