As a type of non-coding RNA, circular RNA (circRNA) figures prominently in human cancer progression. Nonetheless, the expression, function, and regulatory mechanism of circ_0001287 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain obscure. In this work, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was implemented to quantify circ_0001287 and miR-21 expressions in NSCLC tissues and cells.

The aim of this study was to develop and characterize pirfenidone (PF)-loaded chitosan microspheres for lung targeting. The microspheres were prepared using the emulsion-solvent evaporation method and characterized by assessing morphology, particle size, and zeta potential. The microspheres had a spherical nature with highly smooth and integrated surfaces.

Aquaporins are membrane channels precisely regulating water movement through cell membranes in most living organisms. Despite the advances in the physiology of fruit development, their participation during fruit development in cucumber still barely understood. In this paper, the expressions of 12 genes encoding plasma membrane intrinsic proteins (PIPs) were analyzed during cucumber fruit development in our work.

Seed germination is important for early plant morphogenesis as well as abiotic stress tolerance, and is mainly controlled by the phytohormones abscisic acid (ABA) and gibberellic acid (GA). Our previous studies identified a salt-tolerant tomato cultivar, LA2711, which is also a fast-germinating genotype, compared to its salt-sensitive counterpart, ZS-5. In an effort to further clarify the mechanism underlying this phenomenon, we compared the dynamic levels of ABA and GA4, the transcript abundance of genes involved in their biosynthesis and catabolism as well as signal transduction between the two cultivars.

Introduction: The present randomized, two-period, cross-over bioequivalence study compared two soft capsules of etoposide (test and reference formulations), in treating 18 advanced lung cancer patients.

Materials And Methods: The pharmacokinetic parameters were determined based on the concentrations of etoposide, using HPLC with fluorescence detector. In each of the two study periods, a single dose of test or reference product was administered.

Esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) is an aggressive type of cancer with poor prognosis and leading to decreased quality of life. The identification of patients at increased risk of esophageal squamous cell cancer may improve current understanding of the role of micro (mi)RNA in tumorigenesis, since the miRNA pattern of these patients may be associated with tumorigenesis. In the present study, the miRNA and mRNA expression profiles of ESCC tissue samples and adjacent normal control tissue samples were obtained from two dependent GEO series.

In this study, the effect of melatonin on the postharvest ripening and quality improvement of tomato fruit was carried out. The tomatoes were immersed in exogenous melatonin for 2h, and then the related physiological indicators and the expression of genes during post-harvest life were evaluated. Compared with control check (CK), the 50 µM melatonin treatment significantly increased lycopene levels by 5.

Although previous studies have found that melatonin can promote seed germination, the mechanisms involved in perceiving and signaling melatonin remain poorly understood. In this study, it was found that melatonin was synthesized during cucumber seed germination with a peak in melatonin levels occurring 14 hr into germination. This is indicative of a correlation between melatonin synthesis and seed germination.
