Spent bleaching clay (SBC) is a hazardous waste produced by vegetable oil refining industries. SBC contains a residual oil (RO) with a lot of organic and inorganic impurities and its disposal leads to severe environmental consequences. In this study, SBC regeneration by extraction, acid modification and pyrolysis under various conditions and biodiesel production were studied.

The current investigation is focused on the development of composite membranes based on polymeric ionic liquids (PILs) containing imidazolium and pyridinium polycations with various counterions, including hexafluorophosphate, tetrafluoroborate, and bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide. A combination of spectroscopic methods was used to identify the synthesized PILs and characterize their interaction with carbon dioxide. The density and surface free energy of polymers were performed by wettability measurements, and the results are in good agreement with the permeability and selectivity obtained within the gas transport tests.

Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto cod collagen was carried out under visible light irradiation (λ = 400-700 nm) at 20-25 °C using the RbTeWO, CsTeMoO, and RbNbTeO complex oxides with β-pyrochlore structure as photocatalysts. The as-prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. It was also found that RbNbTeO with β-pyrochlore structure was not able to photocatalyze the reaction.

The effect of the morphology and content of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) on the physicochemical, mechanical, and gas transport properties of the polyurethane (PU) mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) with respect to CO recovery from CH, O, and N was studied. The MMMs based on PU with spherical and rod-shaped ZnO-NPs at various loadings, namely, 0.05, 0.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles were obtained by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) under optical emission spectrometry control from elemental high-purity zinc in a zinc-oxygen-hydrogen plasma-forming gas mixture with varying deposition parameters: a zinc source temperature, and a reactor temperature in a deposition zone. The size and morphological parameters of the zinc oxide nanopowders, structural properties, and homogeneity were studied. The study was carried out with use of methods such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray structural analysis, and Raman spectroscopy, as well as statistical methods for processing and analyzing experimental data.

New complex compounds (I) - (IV) were synthesized by the reaction of 1-(2-fluorofluorophenyl) -1,4-dihydro-5H-tetrazole-5-thione (HL), 1-(2-methylphenyl)-1,4-dihydro-5H-tetrazole-5-thione (HL) and 1-(2-chlorochlorophenyl)-1,4-dihydro-5H-tetrazole-5-thione (HL) with cadmium chloride. By X-ray diffraction analysis, molecular and crystal structures of complexes (I), (II), (III) and (IV) are determined. The contribution of surface roughness of nonporous polymeric membranes to their gas separation and mechanical properties was studied in terms of surface free energy. The membranes samples were prepared based on glassy polymers with different chain rigidity, namely polysulfone (PSU), cellulose triacetate (CTA), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). The results were obtained by atomic force and scanning electron microscopy (AFM and SEM) with individual gas permeation, wettability, and mechanical testing.
