Service Members, particularly members of the Reserve Component, seek medical and mental health care in their civilian communities. To the extent that providers communicate respect and value for military culture, they can better engage and enhance outcomes.

Brief Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (BBTI) is effective in treating insomnia, but the treatment schedule is difficult to implement in the Military Health System due to shorter appointment windows than what is offered in civilian settings. In the present study, 23 behavioral health providers were trained in a version of BBTI adapted for use within the Military Health System.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to identify quantitative instruments that measure characteristics that support nurse educator education, specifically social support, motivation, and work opportunity.
Background: Vacancies in nurse faculty positions have left nursing education unable to increase the number of nurses prepared to enter the workforce.
Method: A review of education, nursing, and psychological databases was undertaken to identify reported instruments.
Background: The triad mentoring model was developed to frame the implementation of innovative student-centered academic-clinical partnerships for online graduate students in nursing leadership and administration practicums.
Method: The nurse leader and faculty member jointly mentored each student to achieve the academic program's objectives through clinical learning experiences that were relevant and important to the clinical organization. Partnerships with nurse leaders within the student's locality were sought, and capstone practicum projects were developed and implemented during four courses.
Although an ethnically diverse workforce is believed to enhance patient care quality, Hispanics are under-represented in the nursing workforce. Recruiting and retaining Hispanic students in nursing programs is essential for greater workforce participation. This grounded theory study explored practices used by Hispanic nursing students to promote their academic success during the first semester of a baccalaureate program.

Global mental health functioning was measured with the 20-item self-report Behavioral Health Measure (BHM), which was completed by patients at all appointments with the BHC. The BHM was then mailed to 664 patients 1.

Design: One diagnostic and 3 treatment polysomnograms were administered in a Latin-square design to identify the optimal expiratory resistance to be used during the 30-day in-home trial. Subjects had repeat polysomnography with the prescribed device at the end of the 30-day trial.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTi) has demonstrated considerable efficacy within randomized clinical trials and case-series designs. This case-series study in a community sleep medicine clinic assessed the effectiveness of an eight-session CBTi protocol chronic insomnia patients who were allowed to continue their use of hypnotics (intent-to-treat n = 48), administered by a clinical psychology doctoral student receiving training and supervision in CBTi by a behavioral sleep medicine certified clinician. Outcome measures included daily sleep diaries, self-report measures on insomnia severity, dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep, daytime sleepiness, as well as medication usage.

Scores on the ToDSS were compared to the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS). The ToDSS was evaluated on three cohorts of patients at a sleep medicine clinic.

From winter 2006 to spring 2007, we contacted consecutive patients initially seen at a multidisciplinary sleep medicine clinic 3 to 5 years earlier and asked them about continuing symptoms. Among the 58 patients who agreed to participate, 43 (74%) reported that they still experienced difficulty initiating and/or maintaining sleep.

The purpose of this study was to assess the sensitivity of the ESS in the identification of OSA, as defined by an elevated apnea-hypopnea index. A retrospective chart review of 268 consecutive patients diagnosed with OSA at a multidisciplinary sleep medicine clinic was conducted.
