Using a mediation model, this study examined the role of verbal intelligence and emotion knowledge in peer acceptance in a sample of Portuguese preschool children. Participants were 444 5-year-olds (214 girls and 230 boys). Emotion knowledge was assessed with the Portuguese version of the Assessment of Children's Emotion Skills.

Fluoropyrimidines are metabolized mainly by the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD). Some variants in the coding gene, , have already been associated with increased toxicity, and their testing is recommended in patients proposed for treatment with these drugs. In this clinical case, a patient without the four variants recommended for testing showed toxicity from the second cycle of capecitabine onwards, requiring hospitalization in the third cycle.

Oxidative treatment of human red blood cells (RBCs) prior to freeze-drying appears to stabilize the RBCs to withstand dried storage at room temperature. To better understand the effects of oxidation and freeze-drying/rehydration on RBC lipids and proteins, single-cell measurements were performed by synchrotron-based Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) microspectroscopy 'live-cell' (unfixed) analysis.
