Transesophageal echocardiography diagnosis of abnormal left atrium to inferior vena cava communication: A case report.

Abnormal traffic between the left atrium (LA) and inferior vena cava (IVC) in the database is currently rare. Herein, we present a unique case of abnormal traffic between the LA and the IVC, which was diagnosed using transesophageal echocardiography and confirmed by computed tomography angiography. This case substantiates the superiority of transesophageal echocardiography over transthoracic echocardiography in detecting specific site lesions.

Left lung cancer in a patient with congenital unilateral absence of the left pulmonary artery: a case report and literature review.

Background: Unilateral absence of pulmonary artery (UAPA) is a rare congenital disease of pulmonary circulation, which is often accompanied by other cardiovascular anomalies. Infrequently, it may remain undiagnosed until adulthood. More rarely, it is to be found with lung cancer in the ipsilateral or contralateral lung simultaneously.

The role of plasma D-dimer levels for predicting lymph node and mediastinal lymph node involvement in non-small cell lung cancer.

Introduction: Elevated plasma D-dimer levels have been suggested as a predictor of poor prognosis in NSCLC. But rare study showed the relationship between D-dimer levels and lymph node involvement.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of plasma D-dimer levels in predicting lymph node and mediastinal lymph node involvement in NSCLC.

Amyand's hernia in a neonate: A case report.

Acute appendicitis secondary to hernia incarceration presenting as scrotal swelling is exceptionally rare in neonates. We report a neonate who presented with tender swelling in the right scrotum. Ultrasonography detected features of a rare Amyand's hernia.

Spontaneous hemoperitoneum from hepatic metastatic trophoblastic tumor.

Spontaneous hemoperitoneum (SP) is defined as the presence of blood within the peritoneal cavity that is unrelated to trauma. Although there is a vast array of etiologies for SP, primary hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatic adenoma are considered to be the most common causes. Hepatic metastatic tumor associated with spontaneous rupture is rare.

Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection.

In this study, we report one case of a three-year-old boy infected with Mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) and presenting concomitant multiple organ damage of the heart, kidney, lung and liver, among others, together with a brief review for the diagnosis and treatment of MP infection with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).

Successful treatment of paraquat poisoning by Xuebijing, an injection concocted from multiple Chinese medicinal herbs: a case report.

Background And Objectives: 1,1'-Dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium dichloride (Paraquat) poisoning remains a significant global health problem. Despite noteworthy research and clinical efforts worldwide in the last few decades, little improvement has been made in reducing fatality from Paraquat poisoning with conventional treatment strategies. We herein report a case of successful management of Paraquat poisoning by Xuebijing, a newly developed injection concocted from multiple traditional Chinese medicinal herbs.
