Meta-analysis of robot-assisted versus video-assisted McKeown esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.

We aim to review the available literature on patients with esophageal cancer treated with robot-assisted (RAME) or video-assisted McKeown's esophagectomy (VAME), to compare the efficacy and safety of the two approaches. Original research studies that evaluated perioperative and oncologic outcomes of RAME versus VAME were identified, from January 1990 to July 2022. The 90-day mortality, the R0 resection rate, the dissected lymph nodes, the perioperative parameters, and the complications were calculated according to a fixed and a random effect model.

Targeting histone deacetylases in endometrial cancer: a paradigm-shifting therapeutic strategy?

Objective: Endometrial cancer is increasingly prevalent in western societies and affects mainly postmenopausal women; notably incidence rates have been rising by 1.9% per year on average since 2005. Background: Data concerning the long-term efficacy of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the treatment of morbid obesity remain scarce. In this retrospective, the authors present 5-year follow-up of 30 patients having undergone laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Methods: Since 2004, 30 patients underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and completed 5 years of follow-up.

Advances in thymic carcinoma diagnosis and treatment: a review of literature.

Thymomas account for up to 50 % of anterior mediastinal neoplasms with an incidence of 0.13 per 100,000 person-years in the USA. Thymic carcinoma is a rare malignancy of the thymus gland distinguished from thymomas as it has a more invasive and metastasizing potential conferring poor prognosis.
