Deep reinforcement learning and convolutional autoencoders for anomaly detection of congenital inner ear malformations in clinical CT images.

Detection of abnormalities within the inner ear is a challenging task even for experienced clinicians. In this study, we propose an automated method for automatic abnormality detection to provide support for the diagnosis and clinical management of various otological disorders. We propose a framework for inner ear abnormality detection based on deep reinforcement learning for landmark detection which is trained uniquely in normative data.

Tracheal Papilloma Mimicking Severe Asthma.

Tracheal papillomatosis is a rare and challenging condition characterized by the development of benign tumors in the trachea and bronchial tree. This case report presents a 53-year-old female with refractory papillomatosis and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Despite three previous resections, the papilloma recurred, causing moderate tracheal narrowing and symptoms mimicking severe persistent asthma.

A Case of Hodgkin's Lymphoma Diagnosed by Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Forceps Biopsies.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) has proven to be highly accurate in lung cancer diagnosis and staging. However, its efficacy in diagnosing lymphoma, especially Hodgkin's lymphoma, remains controversial, mainly due to the need for larger biopsies for definitive diagnosis. The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Acute Kidney Injury during Colistin Therapy: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Lebanon.

Introduction: The current study aimed to determine the prevalence, risk factors, and stages of severity of acute kidney injury (AKI) caused by colistimethate sodium (CMS) treatment in patients diagnosed with systemic antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections. The predictors of all-cause mortality in this patient population were also examined.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients who were admitted to a university-affiliated hospital and acute tertiary care referral center in Beirut, Lebanon between January 2015 and December 2018 and underwent CMS treatment for a period of 48 h or more.

Natural Language Processing for Breast Imaging: A Systematic Review.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) has gained prominence in diagnostic radiology, offering a promising tool for improving breast imaging triage, diagnosis, lesion characterization, and treatment management in breast cancer and other breast diseases. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in NLP for breast imaging, covering the main techniques and applications in this field. Specifically, we discuss various NLP methods used to extract relevant information from clinical notes, radiology reports, and pathology reports and their potential impact on the accuracy and efficiency of breast imaging.

[Jugular foramen anatomy in lateral skull base paraganglioma surgery].

The following outcomes were pooled for analysis: failed entry, extraperitoneal insufflation, vascular lesion, omental lesion and visceral lesion, site bleeding, reintervention, subcutaneous emphysema, solid organ lesion, and infection of the trocar site.

Objective: The diagnostic accuracy and yield of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is not well established in lymphoma and other mediastinal-related diseases. A non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 () gene is associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. SNPs of the gene play an important role in the pathogenesis of HCC in alcoholic cirrhosis, but there are limited data regarding other possible etiologies.

A 57-Year-Old Man With a Large Left Pleural Effusion.

A previously healthy 57-year-old man presented to the ED with altered mental status and severe shortness of breath.
