Article Synopsis
  • Post infectious glomerulonephritis (APIGN) is a leading cause of hospital admissions in children in developing countries, with a study conducted in Nepal examining its prevalence and associated factors.
  • The study included 1554 children over three years, revealing a prevalence rate of 4.05% for APIGN, with key clinical findings such as elevated antistreptolysin O titers and low serum C3 levels.
  • The findings underscore the continuing health risk posed by APIGN in children and the importance of surveillance and management strategies in addressing this issue in areas like Nepal.

Introduction: Migraine is one of the common neurovascular disorders characterized by persistent headaches ranging from moderate to severe pain. It has a high prevalence affecting more than one billion population each year across the world and has high morbidity, especially among young adults and females. The exact cause and mechanism of the migraine is unknown.

Recent advancements in reservoir computing (RC) research have created a demand for analogue devices with dynamics that can facilitate the physical implementation of reservoirs, promising faster information processing while consuming less energy and occupying a smaller area footprint. Studies have demonstrated that dynamic memristors, with nonlinear and short-term memory dynamics, are excellent candidates as information-processing devices or reservoirs for temporal classification and prediction tasks. Previous implementations relied on nominally identical memristors that applied the same nonlinear transformation to the input data, which is not enough to achieve a rich state space.

Introduction: Multimorbidity is defined as the co-occurrence of two or more chronic conditions in the same individual. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus rarely occurs without coexisting diseases. With an increasing elder population and longevity, elder adults have a higher prevalence of chronic morbidity, thus increasing the chances of experiencing more than one non-communicable chronic condition, where the impact of multimorbidity is greater than the cumulative effect of the single condition.

Toxic epidermal necrolysis is a potentially life-threatening dermatological condition whose pathogenesis and exact treatment are not yet known. Drugs like anticonvulsants, allopurinol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like etoricoxib, a selective cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitor prescribed for pain management are associated with a high risk of toxic epidermal necrolysis. It is also associated with immunodeficiency and dysregulated immune reactions like systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disease in which organs and cells undergo damage initially mediated by tissue binding auto-antibodies and immune complexes.

Nepal is facing a large-scale labour migration-both internal and international-driven by economic and employment opportunities. There is sparse literature available at the national level which examines the link between migration and contraceptive use. This study aimed at identifying contraceptive use and the unmet need for family planning (FP) and exploring its correlates among the married women of reproductive age (MWRA) by their husbands' residence status, using data from Nepal Demographic Health Survey 2016-a nationally representative cross-sectional survey.

Background Maternal deaths and complications are highly preventable with good antenatal, postnatal and skilled care during childbirth. Inadequate information on the factors affecting these services could be barrier to a reduction of maternal deaths in lowincome countries. Objective To assess the uptake of antenatal, postnatal and skilled care during childbirth.

Rationale And Objectives: Coronary artery calcium (CAC) images can be reconstructed with thinner slice thickness on some modern multidetector-row computed tomography scanners without additional radiation. We hypothesized that the isotropic 0.5-mm CAC reconstruction outperforms the conventional 3.

Backgroud: Routine use of sedation in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is uncommon in Nepal. There is no study on use of propofol sedation in routine endoscopy examination in Nepal. This study was conducted in order to assess the patient satisfaction and safety profile in patient undergoing routine upper GI endoscopic examination on outpatients.

This study aims to describe current risk management practices and policies across the world in relation to personal exposures from devices emitting radiofrequency fields, environmental exposures from fixed installations and exposures in the work environment. Data from 86 countries representing all WHO regions were collected through a survey. The majority of countries (76.

3D Computed Tomography (CT) provides noninvasive, low-radiation method of coronary artery calcium (CAC) measurement. Conventional CAC images are acquired on multidetector-row CT scanners without contrast, and reconstructed with 3 mm slice thickness. The calcium volume is quantified by registering voxels with attenuation values greater than or equal to 130 Hounsfield Unit (HU).

Introduction: Calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) have brought dramatic improvements in early renal allograft survival. However, CNI are associated with posttransplant hypertension (PTHTN), a risk factor for mortality from cardiovascular disease and graft failure. Sirolimus (SRL) is emerging as an alternative to CNI.
