Background: Clinical risk factors of deficient immune responses to COVID-19 mRNA vaccination in SARS-CoV-2 naive hemodialysis recipients (HDR) have already been identified. Clinical factors influencing hybrid immunity induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination in HDR have not been reported.
Methods: A comprehensive analysis of antibody (Ab) and T cell responses to two doses of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccination was performed in 103 HDR, including 75 SARS-CoV-2 naive and 28 experienced patients, and in 106 healthy controls (HC) not undergoing HD, including 40 SARS-CoV-2 naive and 66 experienced subjects.
Background: The presence of inter-limb asymmetry in the human body has traditionally been perceived to be detrimental for athletic performance. However, a systematic review addressing and comprehensively assessing the association of asymmetry between the lower limbs and middle- and long-distance running performance-related metrics is currently lacking.
Objective: The main purpose of this systematic review was to examine the relationship between lower inter-limb asymmetry and determinants of running performance in healthy middle- and long-distance runners.
Conditioned pain modulation (CPM) is a psychophysical experimental measure of endogenous pain inhibition in humans. Within this paradigm, one noxious stimulus, the conditioning stimulus (CS), reduces the pain perception from another heterotopic noxious stimulus, the test stimulus (TS). Cognitive processes are known to influence pain perception and might impact the underlying mechanisms of CPM.

It is a measure of spinal hyperexcitability, which is believed to contribute to chronic musculoskeletal pain (MSKP) and headache. Previous syntheses of the evidence for alterations in the NWR in patients with chronic MSKP and headache needed a comprehensive update.

Methods: rBAVM treated first by embolization between March 2002 and May 2022 were included. Embolization was defined early (Group 1) when performed within 10 days postbleeding.
Lung transplant recipients (LTRs) are susceptible to severe Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and had lower immune responses to primary severe acute respiratory syndrome-related to coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination as compared to the general population and to other solid organ transplant recipients. As immunity induced by booster vaccination and natural infection has increased since the beginning of the pandemic in the general population, immunity acquired by LTRs is not well documented. Humoral and cellular immunity to SARS-CoV-2 was monitored in February and May 2023 in 30 LTRs and compared to that of health care workers (HCWs) and nursing home residents (NHRs).

This may be accounted for by (non-)modifiable factors, including physical activity (PA). Yet, little research has thoroughly examined PA and its relation with CPM magnitude in a representative sample.

Additionally, grandparents' PA and SB levels of the specific caregiving moment within the included care day were also compared with those of the corresponding specific time frame on the matching non-care day.
Methods: Data were obtained and pooled from three assessment time points of the Healthy Grandparenting Project.
In its recent development, the Pictorial Scale of Perceived Water Competence (PSPWC) showed good face and construct validity. However, additional reliability and validity research is needed, including test-retest reliability and a demonstration of the relationship between PSPWEC test scores and actual water competence. Toward that aim, we administered the PSPWC to 124 children, aged 5-8 years.

Functional ultrasound imaging is an emerging technology providing high-resolution images of the brain vasculature, allowing for the monitoring of brain activity. However, as the technology is relatively new, there is no standardized tool for inferring the position in the brain from the vascular images.

However, it is unknown which technique leads to better technical and clinical success. We aimed to determine which technique yields the most effective first pass reperfusion during MT.

PTRA provides the tools for extracting statistically relevant trajectories from the medical event histories of a patient population. These trajectories can additionally be clustered for visual inspection and identifying key events in patient progression.

Methods: Dominant and non-dominant physical performance values of 90 players (53 males, 37 females) were determined yearly (with monitoring up to 3 years) using unilateral strength, power, speed and agility tests from which asymmetry magnitude percentages were calculated. Linear mixed effect models examined the development of performance values according to youth players' maturity offset, performance dominance, sex and training volume.
Background: Evidence on the factors influencing physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) in middle-aged and older adults taking care of their grandchild(ren) is limited, even though this knowledge seems imperative when considering the unique relationship between grandparents and their grandchild(ren) as well as the rising popularity of intergenerational interventions targeting these energy-expenditure related behaviors. Therefore, this explorative qualitative study aimed to identify the determinants of PA and SB levels among Flemish caregiving grandparents in the presence of their grandchild(ren) aged between 0-5 years.
Methods: Six online focus group discussions were conducted via Microsoft Teams, all of which were audio- and videotaped with permission granted by the participating grandparents.
Adenocarcinomas of the ampulla of Vater represent only 0.2% of all gastrointestinal cancers. Due to the low incidence no large clinical trials evaluating efficacy of treatments are available.

Methods: Dominant and nondominant upper-extremity BMD, BMC, and LM values of 49 male and 31 female players were measured yearly using dual X-ray absorptiometry. From these values, asymmetry magnitudes were calculated and expressed as a percentage.
In the last decades, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats have become serious risks prompting countries to prioritize preparedness for such incidents. As CBRN scenarios are very difficult and expensive to recreate in real life, computer simulation is particularly suited for assessing the effectiveness of contingency plans and identifying areas of improvement. These computer simulation exercises require realistic and dynamic victim profiles, which are unavailable in a civilian context.

Methods: Antenatal and perinatal/neonatal factors, motor and speech function, associated impairments, and neuroimaging patterns were extracted from the Belgian Cerebral Palsy Register. Prevalence was estimated per 1000 (overall, ante/perinatal, spastic, dyskinetic CP) or 10,000 (post-neonatal, ataxic CP) live births.
Purpose: To investigate the technical outcome, clinical outcome, and patency of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in pediatric portal hypertension (PHT).
Methods: A systematic search of MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane databases, ClinicalTrials.gov, and WHO ICTRP registries was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.
Background: Nursing home residents, a frail and old population group, respond poorly to primary mRNA COVID-19 vaccination. A third dose has been shown to boost protection against severe disease and death in this immunosenescent population, but limited data is available on the immune responses it induces.
Methods: In this observational cohort study, peak humoral and cellular immune responses were compared 28 days after the second and third doses of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine in residents and staff members of two Belgian nursing homes.

Purpose: To retrospectively assess the safety and efficacy of coil embolization for catheter-directed true common and proper hepatic artery aneurysm exclusion.
Materials And Methods: Nine consecutive patients (2005-2021) in two university centers presenting with true common and proper hepatic artery aneurysms (> 2 cm in diameter) were treated with 'frontdoor-backdoor' coil embolization. Patients presenting with a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm, mycotic aneurysm or patients with small (< 2 cm diameter) aneurysms and followed up by imaging were excluded.
Introduction: Long COVID (LC) is a medical condition first described and documented through anecdotes on social media by patients prior to being recognised by WHO as a disease. Although >50 prolonged symptoms of LC have been described, it remains a diagnostic challenge for military providers and therefore threatens operational readiness.
Methods: On 9 September 2021, an online survey was emailed to 2192 Belgian Defence personnel who had previously tested PCR positive for SARS-CoV-2 between 17 August 2020 and 31 May 2021.
