Purpose: To report the novel use of the osteotome as an adjunctive instrument in Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective interventional case series of 15 patients, underwent endoscopic DCR at the Singapore National Eye Centre, by a single ophthalmologist and rhinologist between April 2009 and April 2011.All patients' case records were reviewed and the information recorded included: patients' demographics, level of obstruction of the lacrimal system, operative time, postoperative symptoms and complications (if any), and the length of follow-up.
Endoscopic pituitary surgery has been gaining wide acceptance as the first-line treatment of most functional pituitary adenomas. This technique has many advantages over traditional procedures, and growing evidence supports its use for endocrine control of functioning tumors. This article reviews data on the different modalities of treatment of functioning pituitary adenomas and compares the results.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe report a case of a 52-year-old man who presented with iatrogenic bilateral nasoethmoidal meningoencephaloceles following endoscopic nasal surgery performed in a neighboring country 8 years ago. Imaging studies, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the paranasal sinuses and anterior skull base, demonstrated bilateral meningoencephaloceles and a suspicious intracranial lesion. In view of the intracranial lesion and size of the skull base defect, an external approach via a bicoronal flap was used for exploration and repair.

Endoscopic pituitary surgery has definite advantages over the traditional method using the operating microscope. Improved visualization, angled view, and a wider panoramic perspective of the important anatomic relationships of the sphenoid and the sella turcica were the obvious advantages. The direct endonasal transsphenoidal approach is the most minimally invasive.
