How reliable is sonography in the assessment of sialolithiasis?

Subjects And Methods: In this study, 82 salivary glands in 79 consecutively registered patients with acute or recurrent parotid or submandibular gland swelling were examined with 7.5-12 MHz linear probes.

Experimental study on a large animal model of a new thermoablation technique.

Background: A novel technique of thermoablation, using a microtube to deliver pulses of hot water vapour, was tested on a large animal model in order to evaluate its efficacy and potential adverse effects.

Materials And Methods: The medical device consisted of a microtube extension connected to a hydropneumatic pump. Pulses of pure water were injected though the microtube where they were heated and delivered as vapour into the target zone.

Aneurysmal bone cysts is a benign, slow growing expansile lesion usually found in long bones or vertebrae. Only 5 cases of ABC of the ethmoid bone have been reported in the literature. Plain radiographs are not specific.

Casimage project: a digital teaching files authoring environment.

The goal of the Casimage project is to offer an authoring and editing environment integrated with the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for creating image-based electronic teaching files. This software is based on a client/server architecture allowing remote access of users to a central database. This authoring environment allows radiologists to create reference databases and collection of digital images for teaching and research directly from clinical cases being reviewed on PACS diagnostic workstations.

[Magnetic resonance imaging in meniscal bucket-handle tears].

Purpose: To define MR signs of meniscal bucket-handle tears and evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of this technique.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective study of 30 patients with a meniscal bucket-handle tear and 30 with a different type of tear, all proven by arthroscopy. The following MR signs of a bucket-handle tear were evaluated: "separate meniscal fragment", "double posterior cruciate ligament", "snake sign" and "double anterior hom".
