Objective: To assess the allele rs 1143634 in IL-1β and rs1800587 in IL-1α in patients for orthodontically induced external apical root resorption (EARR).

Material And Methods: Intra-oral periapical radiograph (IOPA) of maxillary incisors of 142 Patients were evaluated for resorption at two time points; before the start of fixed mechanotherapy (T1) and after one year of treatment (T2). The individuals with root resorption<2mm were categorized as a control group (group 1; n=90), and resorption>2mm were categorized as case group (group 2; n=52).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore the levels of Matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9) and Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in the pulp of teeth with different stages of inflammation among diabetic and non-diabetic patients.
  • A total of 77 patients were divided into two main groups based on their diabetes status and further categorized into subgroups depending on their pulpitis type (symptomatic reversible or irreversible).
  • Results showed that both MMP-9 and TNF-α levels were significantly higher in cases of symptomatic irreversible pulpitis compared to reversible pulpitis, highlighting a possible link between these biomarkers and the severity of pulp inflammation.

Introduction: Oxidative stress has been implicated in tumourigenesis by affecting the actions of various protein kinases and transcription factors, and resulting in damage to DNA structure by the deamination of nucleotides and the generation of free radicals. Derangements in the antioxidant defence mechanism have been considered in the pathogenesis of oral cancer.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the serum levels of nitric oxide and vitamin C in cases of Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDs) and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) and healthy controls.
