Background: Healthy gut microbiota is important for prognosis in cow's milk allergy (CMA). The application of synbiotics (specific pre- and probiotics) in extensively hydrolyzed formulae (eHFs) is a relatively new concept.
Aims: To evaluate a synbiotic-containing, whey-based eHF (SeHF) with galacto-oligosaccharides, fructo-oligosaccharides, and bifidobacterium breve M-16V in infants with CMA.
Background: Filaggrin is an epidermal protein that has a role in skin barrier function. Filaggrin loss-of-function (FLG-LOF) mutations are a significant risk factor for eczema and atopy, but their association with food allergy (FA) is less clear.
Objective: We explored the longitudinal relationship between 3 common FLG-LOF mutations and FA using the Isle of Wight birth cohort.
A 12.5-year-old boy with Crohn's disease with abdominal pain had a raised amylase of 1835 IU/l with normal lipase levels. Ultrasound showed no evidence of inflammation of pancreas.
