Amiodarone is an antiarrhythmic drug used to treat cardiac tachyarrhythmias. It has many adverse effects, with thyroid dysfunction one of the most notable. Through various mechanisms, both thyrotoxicosis and hypothyroidism can occur secondary to amiodarone therapy.

We report the use of Exenatide, a GLP-1 agonist, in the management of diabetes mellitus in a 19 year-old female with Prader-Willi syndrome. Aim: To determine the prevalence of periodontitis in an urban population of Sri Lankans with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and to compare the data with those from a population of adults without diabetes.

Combining population health and baseline risk strategy by determining an age cutoff for initiating statins in patients with diabetes: a population-based study.

Objective: Strategies for initiating statin use among adult patients with diabetes for primary cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention include treating all patients (assuming diabetes is a coronary risk equivalent) or treating patients who are at risk of developing CVD. The aim of the study was to combine both strategies to derive an appropriate age cutoff for prescribing statins. By considering different strategies, we also aim to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of different strategies to reduce CVD events.

A 22 month study of patient complaints at a National Health Service hospital.

We audited patient complaints made about medical care in a National Health Service District general hospital over a 22 month period. Complaints were about medical care, nursing care, attitudes of staff, poor communication, clinical delay (9%) and hospital environment.
