Rituximab Safety Profile: A Seven-Year Retrospective Analysis From Southern India.

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the pattern, severity, and outcomes of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with rituximab use reported to a regional pharmacovigilance center in Kerala, India.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed rituximab-associated ADRs reported from 2017 to 2023. ADRs were assessed using the WHO-UMC criteria for causality and the Modified Hartwig Siegel Scale for severity.

From monomer to micelle: a facile approach to the multi-step synthesis of block copolymers inline purification.

A one-pass continuous flow strategy to form block copolymer nanoaggregates directly from monomers is presented. A key development towards such a sophisticated continuous flow setup is a significant improvement in continuous flow dialysis. Often impurities or solvent residues from polymerizations must be removed before block extensions or nanoaggregate formation can be carried out, typically disrupting the workflow.

Imidazopyridazine Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors Display Potent Anti-Proliferative Effects in the Human Neuroblastoma Cell-Line, IMR-32.

Imidazo[1,2-]pyridazine compounds are a new class of promising lead molecules to which we have incorporated polar nitro and amino moieties to increase the scope of their biological activity. Two of these substituted 3-nitro-6-amino-imidazo[1,2-]pyridazine compounds (5c and 5h) showed potent acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity (IC 40-50 nM), which we have previously reported. In this study, we wanted to test the biological efficacy of these compounds.

Here, we present specific signature of alternative splicing (AS) events of sphingolipid genes for each breast cancer subtype from the TCGA-BRCA dataset. We show that ceramide synthase 2 (CERS2) undergoes a unique cassette exon event specifically in Luminal B subtype tumors.

A Cross-Sectional Study of Clinico-etiological Profile and Associated Comorbidities in Indian Patients of Pigmented Purpuric Dermatoses.

Background: Pigmented purpuric dermatoses (PPDs) are a group of chronic benign vascular disorders with varied clinical presentation. The etiopathogenesis of the condition largely remains unknown with a paucity of clinico-epidemiological and/or clinico-etiological studies.

Objective: To study the clinico-epidemiological pattern, etiological factors and associations of PPD and correlate them with its severity in a set of Indian patients.

Raman spectroscopic study of ZnO/NiO nanocomposites based on spatial correlation model.

The effect of nickel concentration has been investigated in ZnO/NiO nanocomposites synthesized using the co-precipitation method. The X-ray diffraction and TEM measurements confirm the distinct phase of NiO in the ZnO/NiO samples. Furthermore, the Raman study shows the sharp modes at 99 cm and 438 cm corresponding to E , E of hexagonal wurtzite ZnO structure and, 1080 cm associated to the two-phonon (2P) mode of NiO, respectively.

Functionally significant metabolic differences between B and T lymphocyte lineages.

Activation of B and T lymphocytes leads to major remodelling of the metabolic landscape of the cells enabling their post-activation functions. However, naive B and T lymphocytes also show metabolic differences, and the genesis, nature and functional significance of these differences are not yet well understood. Here we show that resting B-cells appeared to have lower energy demands than resting T-cells as they consumed lower levels of glucose and fatty acids and produced less ATP.

Dual-energy computed tomography: A reliable and established tool for differentiation of uric acid from nonuric acid renal Stones.

Background: Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) utilises the technique of simultaneous image acquisition of a body part at two different energy levels of the X-ray tubes. We used the DECT in this project to study its accuracy in non-invasive in vivo differentiation of uric acid (UA) calculi from non-UA calculi using the 3 generation dual-source computed tomography (CT) scanner.

Reliable and comparable data about the clinical spectrum of AKI is necessary for optimizing management. Now-a-days synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) through biological entity is quite interesting to employ AgNPs for various biomedical applications in general and treatment of cancer in particular. This paper presents the green synthesis of AgNPs using leaf extract of Podophyllum hexandrum Royle and optimized with various parameters such as pH, temperature, reaction time, volume of extract and metal ion concentration for synthesis of AgNPs. Adventitious root cultures derived from leaf derived callus of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal were treated with methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid independently. Biomass accumulation, culture age, elicitation period, and culture duration were optimized for higher withanolides production in the two best-responding varieties collected from Kolli hills (Eastern Ghats) and Cumbum (Western Ghats) of Tamil Nadu, India.

Multicentric extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma of uterine adnexa in a young female: an unusual presentation.

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma is a rare soft-tissue sarcoma, mostly occurring in the proximal extremities and limb girdle. Majority of the patients are in fifth and sixth decades of life with male preponderance. We report here a case of primary extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma of the uterine adnexa involving the broad ligament and fallopian tube synchronously without any evidence of uterine/ovarian involvement in a young multiparous female of 27 years.

Background: The diagnosis of osteoarticular tuberculosis is clinico-radiological in endemic areas. However every patient does not have the classical picture. Osteoarticular tuberculosis is a paucibacillary disease hence bacteriological diagnosis is possible in 10-30% of the cases.

The use of immunomodulators as an adjunct to antituberculous chemotherapy in non-responsive patients with osteo-articular tuberculosis.

We studied 51 patients with osteo-articular tuberculosis who were divided into two groups. Group I comprised 31 newly-diagnosed patients who were given first-line antituberculous treatment consisting of isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide. Group II (non-responders) consisted of 20 patients with a history of clinical non-responsiveness to supervised uninterrupted antituberculous treatment for a minimum of three months or a recurrence of a previous lesion which on clinical observation had healed.
