Objective: Aims were to (i) report prevalence and (ii) evaluate reliability of the radiographic findings in examinations of patients suspected of subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS), performed before a patient's first consultation at orthopaedic department.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study examined radiographs from 850 patients, age 18 to 63 years, referred to orthopaedic clinic on suspicion of SIS. Prevalence (%) of radiographic findings were registered.
Objectives: To describe the current organization and implementation of formalized, multi-disciplinary hospital-based antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) structures in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Methods: A structured electronic questionnaire was sent to all trainees and specialists in clinical microbiology (N=207) and infectious diseases (N=260), as well as clinical pharmacists (N=20) and paediatricians (N=10) with expertise in infectious diseases. The survey had 30 multiple-choice, rating-scale, and open-ended questions based on an international consensus checklist for hospital AMS, adapted to a Danish context.
Background: Arthroscopic distal clavicle resection (DCR) can be offered to patients with persistent acromioclavicular (AC) joint pain who do not benefit from conservative treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of combined arthroscopic DCR and concomitant arthroscopic subacromial decompression in a large consecutive and prospective cohort using patient-reported outcomes.
Methods: Consecutive patients were identified from our online database and included based on their primary treatment code.
Background: Frozen shoulder is a painful joint disease. Patients with diabetes seem to have worse clinical symptoms and surgery in this patient population is believed to be more common. The objective postoperative evaluation indicates inferior results when surgically treating diabetics, but no previous studies have investigated exclusively the subjective patient satisfaction with arthroscopic capsular release.

Art historians have traditionally used physical light boxes to prepare exhibits or curate collections. On a light box, they can place slides or printed images, move the images around at will, group them as desired, and visual-ly compare them. The transition to digital images has rendered this workflow obsolete.

Patients with constipation report symptoms of abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, straining to defecate and general discomfort. Strategies for preventing constipation include laxatives, exercise and increased fluid and fibre intake, but life style adjustments, such as exercise, eating more fibres and drinking more fluids, were not considered a solution by older patients.

Background: Shoulder impingement syndrome is the most common shoulder disorder. Even though conservative treatment is the primary treatment of choice, surgery has increased substantially in several countries during the last 20 years. This has resulted in recommended clinical guidelines for treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome in countries such as The Netherlands and Denmark during recent years.

Among the various thermochemical and biochemical routes, fast pyrolysis followed by catalytic hydrotreating is considered to be a promising near-term opportunity. This paper reports on experimental methods used 1) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass to produce bio-oils in a fluidized-bed reactor and 2) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for catalytic hydrotreating of bio-oils in a two-stage, fixed-bed, continuous-flow catalytic reactor.

It is a com-pression neuropathy due to compression of the median nerve proximal in the forearm. In this case report we de-scribe a 69-year-old male patient with pain in both forearms in more than ten years.

This review aimed to present an overview of the literature on gene expression and protein composition in human rotator cuff tendinopathy and other tendinopathies, and to evaluate perspectives of proteomics--the comprehensive study of protein composition--in tendon research.

It has a wide clinical diversity, spanning from asymptomatic cases to rapid septic shock and death. We present a case of pulmonary melioidosis in a Danish tourist returning from North-eastern Thailand.

The treatment of this rare condition is controversial and reports on the long-term outcome are sparse. We present a series of patients treated with open reduction and ulnar osteotomy with a mean long-term follow-up of 8 years (range 3-17).

During 12 months, 1015 routine CSF samples were consecutively collected from patients in the County of Aarhus, Denmark. The samples were cultured, examined by microscopy, and, in parallel, CSF DNA was automatically purified and subjected to real-time PCR.

Methods: We applied a PCR that targeted conserved regions of the 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid gene to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from patients with external ventricular drainage or a ventriculoperitoneal shunt during the course of VR-BM. We compared the PCR results with CSF cultures.
Rapid aetiological diagnosis of bacterial meningitis is crucial for the early targeting of antimicrobial and adjuvant therapy. Broad-range polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting the 16S rRNA gene allows aetiological diagnosis of bacterial meningitis when applied to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). We assessed the additional diagnostic effect of applying a novel broad-range real time PCR and subsequent DNA sequencing to culture, microscopy, and broad-range conventional PCR on CSF in patients with suspected bacterial meningitis.

Eleven patients (median age 59 years, minimum follow-up 6 months) were included, and minimum follow-up was 6 months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of both upper arms allowed investigation of muscle atrophy and evaluation of any other degenerative signs in the displaced muscle.

Methods: Patients admitted to the regional trauma centre in Aarhus, Denmark, were prospectively screened by blood and urine tests for the presence of alcohol, and legal and illicit drugs. The correlation with the Injury Severity Score, hospitalization time, and mortality after drug or alcohol intake was investigated.
Meningococcal disease (MD) remains an important health problem. Crowding has been suggested to be a risk factor for MD in children, but the evidence is relatively sparse. We performed a nationwide nested case-control study comprising 1222 children with MD and 24,549 population controls.

Elbow joint dislocation was simulated in cadaveric specimens to quantify laxity induced by radial head and coronoid process lesions, either alone or in combination with collateral ligament insufficiency. The effects of lateral ligament reconstruction and radial head prosthesis replacement were also considered. Absence of the radial head and the coronoid process induced rotatory laxity of 145% and 128% (both P <.

Pathological external forearm rotation (PEFR) relates to posterolateral elbow joint instability, and is considered a possible requisite step in a simple posterior elbow joint dislocation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the capsuloligamentous restraint to PEFR. In all, 18 elbow joint specimens were examined in a joint analysis system developed for experimental elbow dislocation.

Six joint specimens without soft tissues were examined in a joint analysis system developed for simulation of dislocation. The osseous stability, expressed as the maximal torque needed for pathologic external forearm rotation, increased from varus to valgus stress (P =.
