Introduction: Exome-sequencing (ES) methods enable accurate diagnosis in challenging cases and uncover secondary findings (SFs) potentially linked to life-threatening or preventable diseases. The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) publishes a list detailing which SFs should be reported and regularly updates it. We aimed to compare results across different SF versions in patients and explore additional SFs to identify potential new recommendations for SF reporting.

Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a serious condition associated with high morbidity and mortality, with obesity identified as a significant risk factor. Pulmonary arterial stiffness (PAS) is an early marker of PH, often preceding clinical symptoms. While laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) has been shown to improve various cardiac parameters in obese patients, its impact on PAS and right ventricular (RV) function in the absence of PH remains unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving 109 patients with RLS and 220 without RLS revealed that those with RLS had higher rates of comorbid conditions like coronary artery disease and hypertension, and higher instances of sarcopenia.
  • * The results indicated a significant correlation between RLS and a higher likelihood of both probable sarcopenia and actual sarcopenia, as well as slower gait speed in older patients with RLS.

Background: There is a lot of research in terms of injuries and performance in football and nowadays aerobic capacity, spinal posture and mobility have been taken into consideration separately in terms of performance. Considering from a biomechanical perspective, we thought spinal curvature and mobility may affect aerobic performance and investigated the relationship between them.

Research Question: Do young soccer players' segmental spinal curvature and mobility affect their aerobic capacity and maximal exercise performance?

Methods: Thirty-four young league players (mean age 16.

Article Synopsis
  • Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease linked to the SMN1 gene that causes muscle weakness, with a carrier frequency of about 1 in 50 people and a prevalence of 1-3 per 10,000 live births.
  • Turkey initiated the SMA Carrier Screening Program in 2021 to address increasing carrier rates, particularly due to consanguineous marriages, after noticing cases among children of healthcare workers who were unaware of screening options.
  • A survey of 1,322 healthcare professionals revealed that 5.8% were unfamiliar with SMA and 26% lacked knowledge of the screening program, with significant gaps noted in secondary and tertiary professionals and non-physicians, indicating a need

Introduction: There is still a requirement for concise, practical scales that can be readily incorporated into everyday schedules and predict the likelihood of dementia onset in individuals without dementia. This study aimed to assess the reliability of the ANU-ADRI (Australian National University Alzheimer's Disease Risk Index)-Short Form in Turkish geriatric patients.

Methods: This methodological study involved 339 elderly patients attending the geriatric outpatient clinic for various reasons.

Objective: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH), a classical triad of gait abnormality, cognitive disturbance, and urinary incontinence, increases in prevalence with aging. Sarcopenia is also characterized by low muscle strength and mass, contributing to gait difficulty. Gait abnormality and lower physical activity also lead to the development of sarcopenia.

Biallelic pathogenic variations in the zinc finger protein 142 (ZNF142) gene are associated with neurodevelopmental disorder with impaired speech and hyperkinetic movements (NEDISHM). This disorder is characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, speech delay, and movement disorders such as dystonia, tremor, ataxia, and chorea. Here, we report a patient who exhibited common neurological features and rarely reported brain MRI findings.

It is now well-established practice in dementia that one clinical entity may be caused by various neurodegenerative disorders, each with different histopathological findings, whereas neuropathologically confirmed patients may have different, unusual, and atypical clinical manifestations. This inconsistency in dementia patients leads to neuropathological examination of cases, and neuropathological examination seems to be an inevitable part of dementia practice, at least until all clinical entities are properly identified for humans.Additionally, the development of disease-modifying therapies and confirmation of the actual accurate diagnosis of the neurodegenerative disease that the drug is thought to modify or act upon are of great importance for neuropathological evaluation in brain banks.

Primitive reflexes (PRs) are clinical signs that indicate diffuse cerebral dysfunction and frontal lesions. We aimed to present a comprehensive analysis of the prevalence and risk of PRs in patients with dementia. English-language articles published from January 1990 to April 2021 were searched in PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and Web of Science with keywords.

Purpose: Despite the research on structural and functional changes that may occur in breast cancer survivors, no study has investigated the relationship between spinal characteristics and the respiratory system. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the relationship between spinal posture and mobility to respiratory muscle strength and pulmonary functions in breast cancer patients who have completed their treatment METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 38 female breast cancer surgery survivors. Participants underwent the following evaluations: Chest wall mobility with a tapeline; postural assessments (spinal curvature, spinal mobility, and spinal inclination) with a non-invasive, computer-assisted electromechanical device; and pulmonary function test and respiratory muscle strength with a portable digital spirometer device.

Objectives: Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a life-threatening condition that occurs as an adverse reaction to antipsychotic and antiemetic agents or sudden withdrawal of dopaminergic medications. Given the metabolic and functional reserves and the comorbidities in older adults, NMS may show an atypical course.

Methods: The medical records of patients with neurodegenerative diseases leading to dementia between 2013 and 2020 were reviewed for the diagnosis of NMS.

Intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and ptosis (IDDDFP) (MIM#617333) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by delayed psychomotor development, intellectual disability (ID), and dysmorphic facial features due to pathogenic variations in the Bromodomain- and PHD Finger-Containing Protein (BRPF1) (MIM#602410) gene. Herein, we report the first Turkish patients with IDDDFP. Additionally, the patients had hematopoietic disorders such as anemia and thrombocytopenia, which have not been previously described in IDDDFP patients.

The Lewy Body Composite Risk Score (LBCRS) has been developed to increase the sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis attributable to Lewy body pathology outside of specialty centers. We aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the LBCRS in patients with dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) and investigate the discriminative power of the test in Turkish patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and DLB, and control group. The sample population (n = 512) comprised DLB (n = 113), DLB-Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)(n = 12), AD (n = 42), AD-MCI (n = 21), and control group (n = 324).
