Purpose: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a significant cause of healthcare-associated infections, resulting in high morbidity and mortality rates due to limited treatment options. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the treatment outcomes and the safety of Ceftazidime-avibactam in infections caused by extensively drug-resistant or pandrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in pediatric patients.
Methods: This study included pediatric patients who received ceftazidime-avibactam treatment due to extensively drug-resistant or pandrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections, monitored in the pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric wards of Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine between 2022 and 2023.
Glanders is a rare zoonotic disease caused by (B. mallei). can cause pneumonia, abscesses, osteomyelitis in severe cases, sepsis, and even death in humans.

Our study aimed to determine the antifungal sensitivity of and the clinical and demographic characteristics of children with candidemia. Two hundred pediatric patients with candidemia were included in the study between 1 January 2010 and 1 August 2023.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the demographic, clinical, treatment characteristics of patients diagnosed with congenital infection and to highlight the long-term complications of the patients.
Methods: Patients with CT were included in this study who were followed between 2010 and 2022 in Cukurova University Medical Faculty Hospital.
Objectives: Septic arthritis (SA) is a serious bacterial infection that must be treated efficiently and timely. The large number of culture-negative cases makes local epidemiological data important. Accordingly, this study aimed to evaluate the etiology, clinical characteristics, and therapeutic approach of SA in children in Turkiye, emphasizing the role of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques in the diagnosis.

Methods: In this observational cohort study, we included all children treated for MIS-C from October 2020 to November 2021 in the Department of Paediatric Infectious Disease at Cukurova University School of Medicine Hospital.
Background: Enterococcal infections are increasingly common in hospitalized patients. Enterococcal meningitis/ventriculitis (EMV) is an extremely rare condition of enterococcal infections, occurring particularly in children. This study investigated the clinical and microbiological characteristics, predisposing factors, and prognosis in pediatric patients with EMV.

Background: Acute otitis media (AOM) is one of the most common childhood infections. Ear pain, the main symptom of AOM, results in parents frequently seeking medical assistance for their children. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of topical 1% lidocaine ear drops administered with oral analgesics with that of oral analgesics alone.

Method: We evaluated retrospectively children with echinococcosis with involvement of three or more organs.
Background: Candida urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common nosocomial infections among critically ill patients hospitalized in pediatric intensive care Units (PICU). We aimed to report outcomes of critically ill pediatric patients who received micafungin for hospital acquired Candida UTIs. We analyzed treatment success rates and success rates among different Candida species.

This multicenter retrospective study has rewieved the characteristics, risk factors, treatment modalities and outcomes of bloodstream infections caused by Trichosporon species in children diagnosed over the past ten years in Turkey.
Methods: The study was performed with the participation of 12 of 55 hospitals invited from Turkey.

Background: Due to the lack of a standard case definifion and the diffuculty in estabilishing a definitive diagnsos, TB in children needs increasing attention by physicians caring for pediatric patients. Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is the most serious form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality rate in the pediatric age group, especially in infants. This descriptive study was conducted in an University hospital, at the South of Turkey, from May 1999 to May 2019.

Methods: Twenty pediatric cases with biopsy proven mucormycosis were reported, between January 2007 through January 2017.
Background: Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) are an emerging global public health threat. As a reserve agent, colistin has been the drug of choice for the treatment of infections caused by CRE. The aim of this study was to determine the risk factors of carbapenem and colistin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae infections and to investigate the outcomes.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of elevation in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) together with CSF culture and laboratory test results in the diagnosis of ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt-related ventriculitis, which is known to be more problematic than conventional shunt infection.
Methods: The study included a total of 34 patients with a VP shunt due to hydrocephalus, who presented with a headache, fever, and shunt infection at the Emergency Department and had a pre-diagnosis of ventriculitis.
Objectives: The aim of this point prevalence survey was to evaluate the consumption, indications and strategies of antifungal therapy in the paediatric population in Turkey.
Methods: A point prevalence study was performed at 25 hospitals. In addition to general data on paediatric units of the institutes, the generic name and indication of antifungal drugs, the presence of fungal isolation and susceptibility patterns, and the presence of galactomannan test and high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) results were reviewed.
