The roles of FGFR3 and c-MYC in urothelial bladder cancer.

Bladder cancer is one of the most frequently occurring cancers worldwide. At diagnosis, 75% of urothelial bladder cancer cases have non-muscle invasive bladder cancer while 25% have muscle invasive or metastatic disease. Aberrantly activated fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR)-3 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of bladder cancer.

Background: Aluminum phosphide (AlP) is an effective fumigant and rodenticide which is a commonly used agent for self-poisoning in parts of Ethiopia. AlP poisoning results in serious manifestations involving many vital organs and it has high mortality. Despite its high incidence and mortality, studies on AlP poisoning in Ethiopia are lacking.
