Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) causes a progressive decline in renal function, leading to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), and increases the likelihood of cardiovascular events and mortality. The recent introduction of the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor has been a game changer in managing chronic kidney disease (CKD) and congestive heart failure (CHF). These agents not only slow down the progression of kidney disease but also have cardioprotective benefits, including for patients with congestive heart failure and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

The incidence of amoxicillin/clavulanate (Augmentin) induced liver injury is relatively low when compared to other medications. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid is one of the most frequently prescribed antibiotics by physicians and is used to treat various bacterial infections. However, amoxicillin/clavulanate can cause severe side effects, usually gastrointestinal like nausea and vomiting, rash, and sometimes hematologic like thrombocytopenia.

Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) weekend hospitalizations were reported to have poor outcomes compared to weekday hospitalizations. The relatively poor outcomes on the weekends are usually referred to as 'weekend effect'. We aim to understand trends and outcomes among weekend AF hospitalizations.
