Objective: Habitual movement compensations, such as decreased surgical peak knee extension moments (pKEM), persist years after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), are linked to poorer recovery, and may influence contralateral osteoarthritis (OA) progression. The purpose of this randomized clinical trial was to determine if a movement training program (MOVE) improves movement quality and recovery after TKA compared to a standardized rehabilitation program without movement training (CONTROL).
Methods: One hundred thirty-eight individuals were randomized to either MOVE or CONTROL groups after TKA.

Background: The impact of femoral anteversion changes on femoral rotation and anterior offset following total hip arthroplasty (THA) has not been well studied. This study therefore investigated the relationship among femoral anteversion, anterior offset, and femoral rotation before and after THA.
Methods: There were 995 patients who had staged primary bilateral THAs who received a preoperative supine computerized axial tomography (CT) scan, following a standardized protocol, for surgical planning prior to each THA.
Background: Clinical use of acellular nerve allografts is rapidly increasing despite limited high-quality, comparative evidence of superiority. Simultaneously, non-research payments to clinicians by the nerve allograft industry exceeds $14,000,000 over the last decade. In this study, the authors hypothesized that nerve allograft-related academic influence would correlate with industry funding.

Yet, it remains unknown if defibrillator pad position, placement in the anterior-posterior (AP) or anterior-lateral (AL) locations, impacts patient outcomes in VF or pVT OHCA.
Objective: To determine the association between initial defibrillator pad placement position and OHCA outcomes for patients presenting with VF or pVT.
Aims: Spinopelvic pathology increases the risk for instability following total hip arthroplasty (THA), yet few studies have evaluated how pathology varies with age or sex. The aims of this study were: 1) to report differences in spinopelvic parameters with advancing age and between the sexes; and 2) to determine variation in the prevalence of THA instability risk factors with advancing age.
Methods: A multicentre database with preoperative imaging for 15,830 THA patients was reviewed.
Background: As state, regional, and national registries have rapidly expanded, the goal of this study is to assess the frequency of registry abstracts accepted for both podium and poster presentations at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons between 2012 and 2022.
Methods: Final programs and poster e-collections were examined over the past 11 years. Two reviewers evaluated each abstract to determine if they utilized large datasets and the location of each registry.
High temperature requirement A serine peptidase 1 (HTRA1) is a serine protease involved in an array of signaling pathways. It is also responsible for the regulation of protein aggregates via refolding, translocation, and degradation. It has subsequently been found that runaway proteolytic HTRA1 activity plays a role in a variety of diseases, including Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), osteoarthritis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Methotrexate (MTX), although an indispensable part of contemporary treatment protocols for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL)/lymphomas (LBL) in improving outcomes, can lead to serious neurotoxicity with long-term consequences. The aetiopathogenesis, predisposing factors and treatment for MTX-induced neurotoxicity are not yet well defined. The aim of our study was to detect the incidence, risk factors and to assess the overall outcomes of MTX-induced neurotoxicity among large cohort of paediatric ALL/LBL patients treated on a uniform protocol.

We surveyed our patient population to determine rates of return to cycling after TJA so that we could provide more accurate counseling on performance and safety.
Methods: At our single institution, an online survey was generated and sent out to patients who had at least 3 months of follow-up.
Group A Streptococcal (GAS) infections can potentially progress into streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS) with multiorgan failure. Even with a benign presentation, GAS can rapidly lead to fatal necrotizing infections. While myositis and cutaneous infections are the typical initial presentation of STSS, genitourinary infections are a less common source.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLongitudinal time-to-event analysis is a statistical method to analyze data where covariates are measured repeatedly. In survival studies, the risk for an event is estimated using Cox-proportional hazard model or extended Cox-model for exogenous time-dependent covariates. However, these models are inappropriate for endogenous time-dependent covariates like longitudinally measured biomarkers, Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA).

A novel failure mechanism in TKA patients with an anatomic patellar component was observed prompting an investigation to identify patient- and implant-related factors associated with suboptimal performance.
Methods: A retrospective evaluation was performed comparing 100 TKA patients with an anatomic patellar component to 100 gender-, age-, and body mass index-matched patients with a medialized dome component.
Background: Despite its limitations, a culture remains the "gold standard" for pathogen identification in patients who have periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). Recently, a synovial fluid antigen test has been introduced by a commercial entity. The purpose of this multicenter study was to determine the accuracy of the antigen test in the diagnosis of PJI.

During development, we identified two groups of differentially localized PDGFRα OPCs that are transcriptionally and epigenetically distinct. One group (active, or actOPCs) is metabolically active and enriched in white matter.

The goal of this review was to identify and describe: (1) effectiveness of mental health interventions for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) who have criminal legal involvement; (2) additional outcomes targeted by these interventions; (3) settings/contexts where interventions were delivered; and (4) barriers and facilitating factors for implementing these interventions.
Methods: A systematic review was conducted to summarize the mental health treatment literature for individuals with serious mental illness with criminal legal involvement (i.
Objectives: The InVITE study, starting in August 2021, was designed to examine the immunogenicity of different vaccine regimens in several countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Liberia, and Mali. Prevaccination baseline samples were used to obtain estimates of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection in the study population.
Methods: Adult participants were enrolled upon receipt of their initial COVID-19 vaccine from August 2021 to June 2022.
Background: The creation of postoperative rhinoplasty results that appear natural and proportional to the face are crucial for patient satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to assess the public's ability to detect a post-rhinoplasty result and preference of preoperative and postoperative rhinoplasty outcomes.
Methods: A survey was distributed using the Amazon Mechanical Turk online platform showing nine preoperative and postoperative rhinoplasty patients.
This article is written by three people with lived experience of neglected tropical diseases in Liberia. We describe our journey to becoming peer advocates, why mental health is important to us, and our recommendations for challenging stigma and improving the mental well-being of people affected.

Studies have shown that spine pathology resulting in lumbar stiffness and hip arthritis often coexist. Spinopelvic mobility patterns during postural changes affect three-dimensional acetabular component position, which affects the incidence of prosthetic impingement and THA instability.
