[One Health: a perspective of the informal ministerial network : "What if the One Health approach became the guiding theme of cooperation at the national, European and global level?"].

In the view of the German government, the One Health approach is a pioneering compass for inter- and transdisciplinary thinking, networking, and action. To protect the health of humans, animals, plants, and ecosystems, it should always receive attention at all its interfaces and activities. The One Health approach has gained political importance in recent years and is being taken into account in several strategies.

[Strategies for the rational use of antibiotics in the outpatient sector-results of a workshop with key stakeholders in the healthcare system].

In November 2021, the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) organized the one-day virtual workshop "Rational antibiotic use in the outpatient sector - potential and opportunities for change" with scientific support from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The aim was to collect strategies for promoting the appropriate use of antibiotics in the outpatient sector. With 114 participants, important stakeholders of the healthcare system were represented.

The zoonotic potential of Clostridium difficile from small companion animals and their owners.

Background: Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) in humans range from asymptomatic carriage to life-threatening intestinal disease. Findings on C. difficile in various animal species and an overlap in ribotypes (RTs) suggest potential zoonotic transmission.

DNA microarray-based PCR ribotyping of Clostridium difficile.

This study presents a DNA microarray-based assay for fast and simple PCR ribotyping of Clostridium difficile strains. Hybridization probes were designed to query the modularly structured intergenic spacer region (ISR), which is also the template for conventional and PCR ribotyping with subsequent capillary gel electrophoresis (seq-PCR) ribotyping. The probes were derived from sequences available in GenBank as well as from theoretical ISR module combinations.

Zoonoses research in the German National Cohort : feasibility of parallel sampling of pets and owners.

Cats and dogs live in more than 20 % of German households and the contact between these pets and their owners can be very close. Therefore, a transmission of zoonotic pathogens may occur. To investigate whether zoonotic research questions can be examined in the context of population-based studies like the German National Cohort (GNC), two studies on different study populations were conducted as part of the feasibility tests of the GNC.
