Rare Mandibular Surgical Ciliated Cysts: First Case Reported in a Brazilian.

This reported case represents the first well-documented mandibular surgical ciliated cyst, following orthognathic surgery consisting of a combination of Le Fort I bimaxillary and sagittal osteotomy concomitantly with genioplasty, reported in a Brazilian patient. A case of 43-year-old female presenting a mandibular surgical ciliated cyst after 16 years of an orthognathic surgery, consisting of a combination of Le Fort I osteotomy and genioplasty, is reported. The cystic lesion was enucleated, and the histopathological analysis showed a cystic cavity lined by pseudostratified columnar respiratory-type epithelium presenting ciliated and mucous cells supported by fibrous connective tissue without inflammation.

Unravelling the Homology between Calycine Glands in Malpighiales: New Data from Basal Malpighiaceae.

Discussing homology relationships among secretory structures remains a relatively underexplored area in botanical research. These structures are widely dispersed within Malpighiales, one of the largest orders of eudicots. Within Malpighiales, both extranuptial and nuptial nectaries are present, and they do not seem homoplastic or share evolutionary connections.

Riparin A is a synthetic form of natural riparins. Acute scale studies that take into consideration the structure-activity relationship have shown preliminary evidence of antidepressant and anxiolytic effects of riparin A, similar to that already known for other riparins. Peculiar Histological Features of Oral Intravascular Papillary Endothelial Hyperplasia.

A 55-year-old male patient with single and well-circumscribed nodule in the lower lip. Accurate diagnosis is based only on histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin and immunohistochemical approach, which a large, organized thrombus within the dilated lumen of a poorly demarcated vein, associated with papillary projections of endothelial proliferation occupying vascular spaces. The final diagnosis was intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) associated with a thrombus.

Effectiveness of low power laser in reducing postoperative signs and symptoms after third molar surgery: a triple-blind clinical trial.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of using LPL (Low power laser) to reduce pain, edema, and trismus after impacted lower third molar extraction. A split-mouth randomized triple-blind clinical trial was conducted at the Federal University of Ceará. For inclusion criteria, it was necessary that the patient presented a clear indication for removal of both lower third molars, in addition to both molars being in similar positions.

Methods: We evaluated IgM, IgA, and IgG antibodies directed to the nucleocapsid (NP), IgA and IgG to the Spike protein and to the receptor-binding domain (RBD), and the presence of neutralizing antibodies (nAb), in a cohort of unvaccinated SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals, in the first 30 days of post-symptom onset (PSO) (T1).

Results: This study included 193 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) participants classified as mild, moderate, severe, critical, and fatal and 27 uninfected controls.

Screening for coronavirus disease 2019 in pregnant women admitted for delivery: an observational study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the impact of symptom-based screening on the prevalence and outcomes of neonatal coronavirus disease 2019 in pregnant women admitted for delivery.

Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted from June to August 2020 at Gonzaga Mota of Messejana Hospital, Fortaleza, CE, Brazil. All pregnant women were screened for coronavirus disease 2019 based on symptoms.

Objective: To review the molecular mechanisms and biological roles of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, highlighting its potential clinical applications.

Design: The search terms "granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor", "GM-CSF", "CSF2″ and "head and neck squamous cell carcinoma" or "head and neck cancer" were queried in the PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus databases.

For use in clinical protocols, MSCs must be expanded to obtain an adequate number of cells, but a senescence state may be instituted after some passages, reducing their replicative potential. In this study, we report a case where MSC derived from an elderly donor acquired a senescence state after three passages.

Introduction: The subgemmal neurogenous plaque is a well-defined subepithelial neural plexus associated with taste buds, located within foliate, fungiform, and circumvallate papillae of the human tongue, that is poorly known by dentists and medical professionals. The hyperplasia of subgemmal neurogenous plaque may occur and it manifests as a papule, nodule, plaque, or ulcer in the lateral posterior border of the tongue inducing the overdiagnosis of reactive, cystic, or neoplastic lesions. The aims of this study are to report a case of a patient with subgemmal neurogenous plaque, and to provide a comprehensive review of other subgemmal neurogenous plaque in the posterolateral tongue with challenging diagnosis.
