Background: In colon cancer (CC), surgery remains the mainstay of treatment with curative intent. Despite several clinical trials comparing open and laparoscopic approaches, data on long-term outcomes for stage III CC are lacking.

Methods: This post-hoc analysis of the European PETACC8 randomized phase 3 trial included patients from 340 sites between December 2005 and November 2009, with long follow-up (median 7.

Background: Using biological markers to predict serious complications and global postoperative recovery, to ensure safe and timely patient discharge after elective colorectal surgery represents a major challenge. The aim of this study was to demonstrate that C-reactive protein levels < 172 mg/l on postoperative day 3 were associated with postoperative recovery within 5 days.

Methods: This is a prospective study of a consecutive bicentric cohort.

Background: Recurrence patterns in stage III colon cancer (CC) patients according to molecular markers remain unclear. The objective of the study was to assess recurrence patterns according to microsatellite instability (MSI), RAS and BRAF status in stage III CC patients.

Methods: All stage III CC patients from the PETACC-8 randomized trial tested for MSI, RAS and BRAF status were included.

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the interest of using ropivacaine for outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The use of local anesthesia by instillation and infiltration could reduce pain and increase the number of outpatient cholecystectomies.

Methods: A one-center randomized prospective clinical trial compared the use of ropivacaine during outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy to the control group of outpatients for laparoscopic cholecystectomy between April 2014 and May 2015.

Objective: The aim of the study was to explore the impact of the absence of band fixation on the reoperation rate and to identify other risk factors for long-term complications.

Background: Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding has been demonstrated to permit important weight loss and comorbidity improvement, but some bands will have to be removed mainly for failure or in case of planned 2-step surgery. Then, the absence of a gastro-gastric suture (GGS) would allow easier band removal.

Objective: The aim of this prospective monocenter study was to evaluate the long-term results of laparoscopic treatment of incisional hernias using intra-peritoneal prosthetic mesh.

Patients And Methods: Seventy-seven patients underwent laparoscopic treatment of incisional hernia between January 2002 and January 2008. All patients were followed for at least five years after surgery.

Introduction: The spontaneous luxation of the intraocular lens-capsular bag-capsular tension ring complex is a serious but fortunately rare complication. The authors report a combined surgical procedure to reposition the complex in a patient who was operated on for bilateral lens subluxation 4 years before and whose enophthalmia made surgery difficult.

Case Report: Two surgical techniques can be considered to reposition the complex and avoid explantation.

The study aim was to report a rare biliary variation detected with an intraoperative cholangiography during a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. After the ligation of the cystic duct, the gallbladder was opacified via an accessory cystic duct flowing into a branch of the right hepatic duct. This accessory cystic duct was clipped and the postoperative course was uneventful.

The authors advise on an exceptional complication in a totally implantable venous access and give recommendations on how to avoid this problem. In an obese person, one week after the implantation of a totally implantable venous access, a chest X-ray showed that the catheter was too short. In the operative room, at the time of the second intervention, the radioscopy did not find this anomaly.

Design And Setting: Retrospective study of 53 patients in a tertiary care center.

Results: All patients had signs of peripancreatic necrosis on initial computed tomography scan, 20 patients experienced organ failure during the first 7 days of the disease, and bacterial contamination was proved in 22 (56%) of 39 samples of peripancreatic necrosis.
