The 22nt small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and miRNAs are processed by Dicer-like 2 (DCL2) and DCL1 respectively and can initiate secondary siRNA production from the target transcript. 22nt siRNAs are under-represented due to competition between DCL2 and DCL4, while only a small number of 22nt miRNAs exist.

Background: The timing of bud break is very important for the flowering and fruiting of longan. To obtain new insights into the underlying regulatory mechanism of bud break in longan, a comparative analysis was conducted in three flower induction stages of two longan varieties with opposite flowering phenotypes by using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ).

DELLA proteins are members of the plant-specific GRAS family, acting as negative regulators of plant growth. In this study, we identified two DELLA protein-coding genes in litchi, denoted as LcGAI and LcRGL1. Motif analysis showed that LcGAI and LcRGL1 proteins both contain a conserved DELLA and TVHYNP motif at the N-terminus as well as LHR1, VHIID, LHR2, PFYRE, and SAW motifs at the C terminus.
