Background: NF2-related schwannomatosis (NF2) is associated with various tumors of the central and peripheral nervous system. There is a wide range of disabilities these patients may suffer from and there is no validated clinical classification for disease severity. We propose a clinical classification consisting of three severity grades to assist in patient management.

Image segmentation enables precise identification and delineation of objects or regions of interest and offers the potential for automatization of score assessments using precise volumetric information. Our study aims to develop a deep learning model that enables automated multiclass segmentation of structures and pathologies relevant for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage outcome prediction.

Here, we investigated the influence of Spreading Depolarization (SD) on brain tissue partial pressure of O2 (ptiO2) within the peri-infarct tissue of patients suffering malignant hemispheric stroke (MHS). This prospective observational trial included 25 patients with MHS that underwent decompressive hemicraniectomy followed by subdural placement of electrodes for electrocorticography (ECoG) and neighboring implantation of a ptiO2 probe within the peri-infarcted cortex.

Background And Objectives: The surgical resection of insular gliomas is associated with a high rate of postoperative morbidity as they grow close to descending motor fibers and lenticulostriate arteries. It is believed that intraoperative perforator infarctions are the determining factor for patients' postoperative outcome, while the majority of patients with intraoperative ischemic events do not develop postoperative motor deficits. This study aims to evaluate whether navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) and nTMS-based fiber tracking could be valuable for the preoperative assessment of patients with insular gliomas.

Methods: One hundred sixty-four patients were randomly assigned by a 1:1 ratio to either the unipolar electrocautery system (N = 82) or bipolar sealer system (N = 82). Inclusion criteria included patients scheduled for primary unilateral TKA, preoperative hemoglobin ≥11 mg/dL, preoperative platelet count ≥150,000, age >18 years, and patient willing to complete all study-related procedures.
Objective: Common peroneal (fibular) neuropathy is the most common mononeuropathy of the lower extremity. Despite this, there are surprisingly few studies on the topic, and a knowledge gap remains in the literature. As one attempts to address this knowledge gap, a core outcome set (COS) is needed to guide the planning phases of future studies to allow synthesis and comparability of these studies.

The updated German clinical practice guideline is intended to promote the early recognition of nerve lesions and the timely initiation of proper treatment for optimal restoration of function.
Methods: The recommendations are based on an assessment of all the evidence revealed by a systematic search of the literature, as well as on the expertise of the multiprofessional guideline group.
Objective: Peripheral nerve tumors (PNTs) are rare diseases. So far, no multicenter data on diagnostics, the efficacy of treatment, long-term outcomes, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) exist. The establishment of the Peripheral Nerve Tumor Registry (PNTR) in 2015 allows for the systematic analysis of patients with tumors associated with peripheral nerves.

Tumorous or tumour-like lesions of peripheral nerves are generally rare, heterogeneous and challenging to diagnose and treat. They may become apparent by a palpable swelling (lump) near nerves, sensory and/or motor deficits, pain to touch or neuropathic pain. In 91% of cases, tumours are benign.

Despite this, data synthesis and comparison of available studies are difficult. This is at least in part due to the lack of standardization in reporting and a lack of a core outcome set (COS).

Machine learning (ML) may improve predictions of SDHC in comparison to traditional non-ML methods. ML models were trained for CHESS and SDASH and two combined individual feature sets with clinical, radiographic, and laboratory variables.

Background: Accurate risk assessment remains an important but often challenging aspect of VTE prophylaxis. One well-established risk assessment model is CRS, which has been validated in thousands of patients from many different medical and surgical specialties.
The prevalence of meralgia paresthetica (MP), which is caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN), has been increasing over recent decades. Since guidelines and large-scale studies are lacking, there are substantial regional differences in diagnostics and management in MP care. Our study aims to report on current diagnostic and therapeutic strategies as well as time trends in clinical MP management in Germany.

Because of the lack of level 1 evidence, especially regarding the management of nTOS, we now add a consensus statement on nTOS treatment among experienced neurosurgeons.
Objective: To document consensus and controversy on nTOS management, with emphasis on timing and types of surgical and nonsurgical nTOS treatment, and to support patient counseling and clinical decision-making within the neurosurgical community.
Objective: Meralgia paresthetica is a common condition that is usually diagnosed by its classical clinical presentation and by exclusion of a spinal origin of pain, sensory loss, and/or paresthesias in the anterolateral thigh. Treatment modalities include conservative management, local injections, and surgical therapy. To date, no level 1 evidence exists about treatment options for idiopathic meralgia paresthetica.

To date, no systematic multicenter studies on epidemiology, clinical symptoms, treatment strategies and outcomes, genetic and histopathologic features, as well as imaging characteristics of PNT were published. The main goal of our PNT Registry is the systematic multicenter investigation to improve our understanding of PNT and to assist future interventional studies in establishing hypotheses, determining potential endpoints, and assessing treatment efficacy.
