Insurance fraud occurs when policyholders file claims that are exaggerated or based on intentional damages. This contribution develops a fraud detection strategy by extracting insightful information from the social network of a claim. First, we construct a network by linking claims with all their involved parties, including the policyholders, brokers, experts, and garages.

It has been applied here to pieces of fermenting wheat flour dough of various compositions, at two different voxel sizes (15 and 5 μm). The resulting evolution of the main cellular features shows that the creation of cellular structures follows two regimes that are defined by a characteristic time of connectivity, tc [30 and 80 min]: first (t ≤ tc), bubbles grow freely and then (t ≥ tc) they become connected since the percolation of the gas phase is limited by liquid films.

Discrete element simulations are employed to study the influence of static friction on the mechanical response of assemblies of nonbonded semiflexible fibers during cycles of isostatic compressions and releases. Hysteresis is evidenced during the cycles and is related to the sensitivity of the frictional contacts on normal forces. Nonzero frictions are shown to decrease both the packing density and caging number but do not affect the critical exponents that characterize the pressure and bulk and shear moduli.
