This work reports a retrospective multicenter study of the treatment and prognosis of 746 patients with gall bladder cancers and 684 patients with extrahepatic biliary duct cancers. Gallbladder cancers: Adenocarcinoma was encountered in 92.6% of cases, 107 were limited to the gallbladder.

Between 1977 and 1986, 23 patients with pulmonary metastases were operated upon in a thoracic and cardiovascular surgery department, totalling 26 thoracotomies. The time elapsed between treatment of the primary tumour and that of the metastasis (single or multiple) ranged from 11 to 89 months. The metastases were discovered on follow-up x-ray films of the chest in 15 cases.

The authors report in this retrospective study, 105 cases of patients operated with Hartmann's technic since 1979 to 1990. There were 55 men and 50 women with average age of 70 years (34-90 years old), 71 patients were strucked down by malign disease, 34 by benign disease. 42 surgical operations were performed immediately, 63 were delayed, 26 operations were immediately performed for serious sepsis, 11 for occlusives syndromes.

When pregnancy occurs in a woman who is more than 40 years of age there are certain risks, ranging from the risks of chromosome abnormalities to those associated with grand multiparity and the syndrome of "the precious baby", when it is a first pregnancy. We have looked at the case notes of 52 patients who delivered after the age of 40. This was a total of 59 pregnancies which occurred in our service between the 1st January 1981 and the 31st December 1986.
