Aim: Obstructive colon cancer is locally advanced colon cancer with poor prognosis. However, the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) on obstructive colon cancer remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of NAC in patients with obstructive colon cancer.

Careful preoperative planning is important for the safe operation of patients with SI because only a few surgeons have operated on such patients. Here, we report the case of a patient with SI who underwent laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG) with D2 lymph node dissection (LND) for advanced gastric cancer (GC).

Case Presentation: Whole-exome sequencing identified the same recurrent, de novo, pathogenic variant in NUS1 [NM_138459.4:c.
Although there are many known Mendelian genes linked to epileptic or developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (EE/DEE), its genetic architecture is not fully explained. Here, we address this incompleteness by analyzing exomes of 743 EE/DEE cases and 2366 controls. We observe that damaging ultra-rare variants (dURVs) unique to an individual are significantly overrepresented in EE/DEE, both in known EE/DEE genes and the other non-EE/DEE genes.

The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between expression of components of DAMPs and TILs in pancreatic cancer patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) versus those who did not.
Methods: NACRT was administered to 51 patients with borderline-resectable pancreatic cancer and not to 33 patients with resectable pancreatic cancer.

The use of auditory data visualization techniques was useful for distinguishing voiceless bellows of a rabid cow from the bellows of estrus-oriented cows, because rabid cows created two distinct sounds with a very short silence between inhalation and exhalation of the respiratory cycle. The auditory visualization techniques as a diagnostic tool may have the potential to serve as a basis for an Internet-based application for the early diagnosis of rabies.

Forty pediatric patients with infratentorial cerebellar astrocytomas, medulloblastomas and ependymomas were evaluated. In most cases it was possible to predict the histological type of these tumors by CT. The search for the residual fourth ventricle cavity and defining its location were the first step in differential diagnosis.

Long term administration of estradiol to intact and ovariectomized female rats caused enlargement of the pituitary gland. This process was partially antagonized in intact animals when antiprogestational compound RU38486 was given concomitantly. In ovariectomized rats, however, this effect of RU38486 was not apparent.

Although anovulation associated with hyperprolactinemia is not an uncommon cause of infertility, the precise mechanism of the pathogenic process that induces hyperactivity (hypertrophy with hyperplasia) of pituitary lactotropes is unknown. We have recently experienced a case of anovulation and hyperprolactinemia in a woman with ergot alkaloid intolerance in whom ovulation was restored by tamoxifen citrate administration. Since tamoxifen citrate administration also suppressed prolactin levels, it was suggested that a low but sustained serum level of estradiol and consequently continuous estrogenic stimulation may be an important causative factor in the development of hyperprolactinemic anovulation.

The method was applied to several uterine or ovarian surgical specimens to evaluate their steroid hormone "dependence". The results suggest that low cytoplasmic E receptor levels (ERc) are associated with higher nuclear E receptor (ERn) levels but no apparent correlation was observed between PRc and ERn levels.

Oxytocin receptors (OXT-R) and prostaglandin F2 alpha receptors (PGF2 alpha-R) in human myometrium, amnion and decidua during pregnancy and at parturition were examined in an effort to clarify their role in the initiation and maintenance of uterine contractions. This study was designed to investigate the interaction of oxytocin and prostaglandin F2 alpha at the receptor level (OXT-R and PGF2 alpha-R) between the myometrium and amnio-decidua throughout pregnancy and at parturition in an effort to clarify which of the two is the first and/or triggering factor involved in the instigation of myometrial contractions. In rat myometria, it was recognized that PGF2 alpha-R increased from day 20 of pregnancy and preceded that of OXT-R from day 22 and thereafter both reached peak levels at delivery. In human myometria, on the other hand, OXT-R showed an increase as gestation advanced and when labor was initiated, a significant decrease was found regardless of the route of labor, while the PGF2 alpha-R the binding capacity of which was only 1/20-1/30 of OXT-R, did not change throughout pregnancy or in labor.

This study was designed to investigate the oxytocin (OT) receptor activities in the human myometrial specimen throughout the course of pregnancy and in labor. The 3H-labeled OT with adequate specific activity (24 Ci/mM) and biologic activity (350 IU/mg) was employed for the OT radioreceptor assay and the apparent dissociation constant (Kds) and the number of binding sites (NBS) were analyzed by Scatchard plot. These activities were predominantly found in 20,000 xg pellets of the myometrial specimens and its binding activities were 2.

The mean levels of plasma DOC and ALDO in normal term pregnancy were significantly higher than those of nonpregnant women. Comparing the mean levels of umbilical arterial plasma to those in maternal plasma at delivery, DOC and ALDO were consistently higher in the former, while B was higher in the latter, and 18OH-B was largely unchanged.

As estetrol (E4) is believed to be the steroid most likely to wholly dependent on fetal origin, we developed a radiommunoassay for unconjugated and conjugated E4 (E4-U and E4-G) and investigated plasma and urinary levels serially throughout the second half of pregnancy to establish their validity by means of monitoring or screening tests to assess fetal well-being. E4 exhibits a remarkable increase during the latter half of pregnancy. At term, the mean E4-U level in maternal peripheral plasma was 0.

In order to investigate the role of 18-hydroxy-11-deoxycorticosterone (18-OH-DOC) in essential hypertension (EH), the responses of plasma 17-OH-DOC to 7 stimulation tests (furosemide test, adrenal suppression test, angiotensin II infusion test, adrenal stimulation test, metopirone test, saline infusion test and potassium chloride infusion test) and the circadian rhythm were investigated in 18 patients with essential hypertension (low renin group: 8, and normal renin group: 10). From the present study, it micht be thought that plasma 18-OH-DOC does not play an important role in the suppression of PRA in patients with low PRA.
