Materials And Methods: This observational study recruited 136 subjects with advanced metastatic breast cancer (irrespective of ERBB2/hormone receptor status) for sequencing of their primary tumor in search for PIK3CA hotspot variants amenable for monitoring by droplet digital PCR (ddPCR). The study analyzed 341 on-treatment samples from 19 patients with PIK3CA variants H1047R or E545K enrolled for long-term (median 85 weeks, range 13-125 weeks), frequent (every 3-5 weeks, median of 14 time points per subject, range 2-29) blood sampling for ctDNA quantification by ddPCR, orthogonally validated by deep sequencing.
Background: Long COVID is suggested to be present in 14 to 43% of COVID 19-survivors. Palliative conventional radiation of a metastatic lesion in the neck was performed and in the months after this treatment had been applied, clearance of the non-irradiated lung metastases and a subcutaneous nodule was observed. The abscopal effect is a phenomenon in which local radiotherapy is associated with regression of metastatic cancer at a distance from the irradiated site.

The resection is technically demanding if a custom implant is used for reconstruction of the bone defect as the surgeon needs to ensure the resection margin is sufficiently wide and the orientation of intended resection planes must match that of the custom implant. We describe a novel workflow of performing a partial acetabular resection in a patient with pelvic chondrosarcoma and reconstruction with a custom pelvic implant in a one-step operation.

Using Chromatin Immunoprecipitation-sequencing (ChIP-seq), we searched for promoters bound by the σ(S)-associated RNA polymerase form (Eσ(S)) during transition from exponential to stationary phase. We identified 63 binding sites for Eσ(S) overlapping known or putative promoters, often located upstream of genes (encoding either ORFs or non-coding RNAs) showing at least some degree of dependence on the σ(S)-encoding rpoS gene.

Patients And Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 2,887 node-positive BC patients enrolled in the BIG 02-98 adjuvant study, a randomised phase III trial whose primary objective was to evaluate disease-free survival (DFS) by adding docetaxel to doxorubicin-based chemotherapy. In the current analysis, the effect of body mass index (BMI) on DFS and overall survival (OS) was assessed.
Fulvestrant (Faslodex) is a new estrogen receptor (ER) antagonist with no agonist effects that is licensed for the treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone-sensitive advanced breast cancer (ABC) who have progressed/recurred on prior antiestrogen therapy. The Faslodex Compassionate Use Program (CUP) provides expanded access to fulvestrant in countries where it is not yet available for patients who are not eligible to enter clinical trials. This analysis pools data from 402 patients who received fulvestrant as part of the CUP in Belgium, predominantly as 3rd- to 5th-line endocrine therapy for ABC.

Phase I studies have shown that myelosuppression is the main toxicity of sabarubicin, while its cumulative cardiotoxicity is mild.
Methods: The aim of the study was to evaluate the activity and safety profile of sabarubicin in patients with locally advanced or metastatic ovarian cancer failing 1st line platinum and/or taxane based chemotherapy, and relapsing earlier than 6 months after the last chemotherapy.
In 18 high-risk patients with acute cholecystitis and severe concurrent disease, we aspirated the gallbladder by using a percutaneous technique under ultrasound guidance. 17 of the 18 improved after aspiration, the only complication being local pain in 2. 13 of the 17 who improved remained free from biliary infections during a mean follow-up period of 14 months.
