Background: This study examined the impact of neurosurgeons' experience on surgical timing and outcomes in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and questioned the adherence to early surgery as recommended by recent guidelines.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 196 aSAH patients treated between 2013 and 2020 was conducted. Variables included age, sex, initial Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores, World Federation of Neurological Surgeons grades, Fisher's grades, rebleeding, hydrocephalus, and preoperative-postoperative neurological status.

Objective: This study aims to compare the impact of 3 surgical techniques-stand-alone cage placement (SAC), anterior cervical plate (ACP) fixation, and total disc replacement (TDR)-on cervical lordosis restoration and segmental height after anterior cervical discectomy at C5-6 level. To eliminate the effect of lordosis between different levels, patients operated on at the same level were included in the study. Comparison of lumbar microdiscectomy and unilateral biportal endoscopic discectomy outcomes: a single-center experience.

Objective: Lumbar microdiscectomy (LMD) is still the gold-standard treatment for lumbar disc herniations with progressive neurological deficits that are refractory to conservative treatment. With improvement of endoscopic systems in recent years, endoscopic discectomy techniques have been developed as an alternative to LMD. The unilateral biportal endoscopic discectomy (UBE) technique is one of these endoscopic techniques, and its popularity has increased in recent years because it does not require high-cost specialized endoscopes, many microsurgical instruments are compatible with this system, and it is similar to LMD in terms of anatomical orientation.

In this study, we aimed to demonstrate a previously described but not widely used method, the suprafloccular transhorizontal fissure approach with anatomical dissection on the cadaver, accompanied by a case presentation with the largest clinical series in the literature. Lifetime depressive and current social anxiety are associated with problematic internet use in adolescents with ADHD: a cross-sectional study.

Aim: To evaluate the relationships between problematic internet use (PIU) and psychiatric comorbid disorders and internet use habits in a clinical sample of adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Method: This cross-sectional study included 95 adolescents with ADHD. Problematic behaviors and symptoms related to internet use were evaluated via Young's Internet Addiction Scale (YIAS), and subjects with a YIAS score of ≥50 were categorized as PIU while those with a score of <50 were defined as normal internet use (NIU).

Facile preparation of nanoparticle based SERS substrates for trace molecule detection.

In this work, we demonstrate that a polished Si wafer surface can be converted to possess strong surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activity by spray coating of polyol synthesized colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) at as low as 1% surface coverage. The SERS activity assays of substrate surfaces prepared with different production procedures (spray and spin coating) at different surface coverages are realized using population statistics. The resulting Raman enhancement factors (EFs) are discussed with the help of distance-dependent electromagnetic simulations for single particles and dimers.

Evaluation of overactive bladder and nocturia as a risk factor for hip fracture in climacteric women: a matched pair case control study.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether overactive bladder (OAB) influences hip fractures in climacteric women by comparing the frequency of OAB and nocturia symptoms in patients with hip fractures and their age-matched controls in pre-fracture period. A total of 30 climacteric patients with a history of hip fracture were compared to a control group of 51 women in terms of OAB, nocturia and nocturia-QoL. A questionnaire composed of structured questions and Turkish validated versions of the specific questionnaires for OAB, OAB-Quality of Life (OAB-q) and nocturia-QoL was directed to the two groups.
