Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of the use of shear wave elastography (SWE) in comparison to chemical shift encoding (CSE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the evaluation of multifidus muscle fatty degeneration in patients with chronic low back pain.

Method: Multifidus muscles were evaluated with the CSE-MRI and SWE examinations in control and patient groups. With the in-phase and out-phase sequences in CSE-MRI, signal intensity index (SII), and signal intensity suppression ratio (SISR) values; with the SWE method, shear wave velocity values were determined.

Purpose: To construct and compare machine learning models for differentiating chondrosarcoma from enchondroma using radiomic features from T1 and fat suppressed Proton density (PD) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: Eighty-eight patients (57 with enchondroma, 31 with chondrosarcoma) were retrospectively included. Histogram matching and N4ITK MRI bias correction filters were applied.

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by intraalveolar accumulation of microliths. PAM is described as the formation and accumulation of calcium phosphate microliths in the alveoli after mutations in the SLC34A2 gene. The patients may be asymptomatic or present with heterogeneous signs such as dyspnea, cough, sputum, weakness, chest pain and hemoptysis.

Haemonchus contortus is one of the most important gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs) infecting sheep, goats, and cattle worldwide. We developed a SYBR Green real-time PCR (qPCR) assay for detection and quantification of H. contortus by using specific primers based on a conserved region of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (mt-COI) gene, and evaluated this technique in the detection of H.

Introduction: Multidetector Computed Tomography (MDCT) is a widespread method for evaluating paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity in daily practice. The maxillary teeth are in field of view in a paranasal sinus CT scan and it is possible to detect dental pathologies with CT.

Aim: To determine the incidence of maxillary teeth pathologies in routine paranasal sinus CT scans.

BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is known to be closely associated with cardiovascular disease. Carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) is widely used for assessment of atherosclerosis. Mean platelet volume (MPV) is a new marker associated with atherothrombosis.

Background: The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and morphometric features of mastoid emissary vein (MEV) on multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scans, emphasize its clinical significance and review its surgical implications.

Materials And Methods: Cranial and temporal bone MDCTs of 248 patients (496 sides) were analysed by 2 radiologists. Mastoid foramen (MF) was defined on the 3 dimensional volume rendered (3DVR) images.

Introduction: Computed tomography (CT) is a widespread method for evaluating head and neck pathologies. The lacrimal glands (LGs) are usually visible in routine head and neck CT scans. LG pathologies usually manifests with changes in gland sizes, so it is important to know the normal values of the LG dimensions and volume.

Objective: The bony nasolacrimal duct (BNLD) morphology as a contributory factor in primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (PANDO) is still controversial. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the morphometric differences of BNLDs in unilateral PANDO patients between PANDO and non-PANDO sides, as compared with the control group using multidetector computed tomography (CT).

Materials And Methods: Bilateral BNLDs in 39 unilateral PANDO patients and 36 control subjects were retrospectively reviewed.

Article Synopsis
  • Round ligament varicosity (RLV) primarily affects pregnant women and can manifest as swelling in the groin region, which may be unilateral or bilateral.
  • Accurate diagnosis through clinical evaluation is challenging since it can resemble an inguinal hernia, making imaging techniques, like ultrasonography, crucial for assessment.
  • A case study is presented involving a 32-week pregnant woman diagnosed with bilateral RLVs, with specific findings noted in gray scale and color Doppler ultrasound.

Liposarcoma (LPS) of vulva is a rare entity. We present the ultrasonographic (US) and color Doppler ultrasonographic (CDUS) findings of a vulvar myxoid LPS. Although LPS cases have been reported in the extremities and trunk, the US or CDUS findings of LPS in vulva have not been described previously.

Colon lipomas are rare, non-epithelial tumors. They are generally smaller than two centimeters and asymptomatic, they are incidentally diagnosed and do not require treatment. Large and symptomatic colon lipomas are rather rare.

An extraordinary cerebral venous drainage pathway and dilated vein at the left posterior cervical region were detected with routine contrast-enhanced neck computed tomography exam. The left sigmoid sinus was drained by dilated mastoid emissary vein (MEV). The MEV continued as posterior auricular and posterior external jugular veins (PEJVs).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS) for endoleak detection and measurement of the aneurysm diameter after endovascular aortic aneurysm repair.

Methods: Forty-eight CDUS and computed tomographic angiography (CTA) examinations performed concurrently on 29 patients who were treated with endovascular stent grafts for abdominal aortic aneurysms were included in the study. CTA and CDUS findings were retrospectively compared for aneurysm diameter, patency of the graft, and the presence of leaks in the aneurysm's lumen (the so-called "endoleaks").
